The Vancouver Island Mariners, a Canadian women’s college basketball team that had caused controversy by rostering a trans-identifying male player, lost in the CCAA national quarterfinal, ending their hopes of winning a national championship. 
Harriette Mackenzie, the openly transgender Vancouver Island star, scored 20 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in the 62-57 loss against Mohawk. No other player for VIU had more than 8 points or 5 rebounds. 
The good news is that it means the CCAA women’s champion will have an all-female roster.

Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin is just nine goals away from passing Wayne Gretzky’s previously thought-to-be unsurpassable record of 894 career goals.
With so few goals left and 17 games left to be played, it looks very possible that Ovechkin will become the league’s all-time goal-scoring leader this season.

Collin Morikawa could not get out of Orlando fast enough after coughing up a three-shot lead with five holes to play at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
He rushed to his car, and got an early start on his two-hour drive north to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, where The Players is this week.

If you want one of those disastrous new Overlap 59FIFTY caps from New Era, you might have to fork over some serious cash.
New Era, the official on-field cap of Major League Baseball, unveiled this new collection on Monday, and it’s objectively awful. The design, which was duplicated for all 30 MLB clubs, features the team logo slapped on top of the team name. Or in some cases, the city name.
The caps are available for $44.99 each on Fanatics. Well, some of them are, anyway.
