LOS ANGELES (AP) — Angel City defender Savy King was stretchered off the field and taken to the hospital after what the team called a “medical event” during the team’s match against the Utah Royals in the National Women’s Soccer League on Friday night.
Other players were visibly shaken as trainers rushed to King’s side after she went down in the 74th minute. She was attended to for some 10 minutes before she was taken from the field on a cart.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Tomoyuki Sugano gave up one run and three hits in 7 1/3 innings, Gunnar Henderson hit a solo homer and drove in an insurance run in the ninth with a triple, and the Baltimore Orioles snapped a five-game losing streak with a 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night.
Sugano (4-2) used a six-pitch mix to strike out five and walk none during a 93-pitch effort in which he threw 65 strikes.
Yennier Cano replaced Sugano with one out in the eighth and gave up a single to Jo Adell and a walk to pinch hitter Jorge Soler.
Jasson Dominguez smashed three of the Yankees‘ four home runs and Will Warren had the best start of his career, as New York beat the Athletics, 10-2, on Friday night in West Sacramento.
Here are the takeaways..
-The Yankees offense could not capitalize on a fast start. Aaron Judge — after having his 38-game on-base streak snapped on Wednesday — started a new streak with a first-pitch double off the left-field wall that put Trent Grisham (who reached on a walk) to third with no outs.
It was a night to remember for Donovan Mitchell. On Friday, the former Louisville star exploded for a game-high 43 points to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a crucial win in their second-round playoff series.
Despite entering the postseason as the top seed in the Eastern Conference after a 64-win regular season, the Cavaliers fell into a 2-0 hole against the Indiana Pacers. But Mitchell refused to let Cleveland drop a third straight game.
He was relentless, attacking from start to finish and delivered in the clutch to keep the Cavaliers’ hopes alive.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have once again gone through a reset at the quarterback position this offseason. They released Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, their two starters under center last year, and Mason Rudolph will now battle Will Howard, the sixth-round draft pick out of Ohio State, for the starting job this fall.
Howard is fresh off leading Ohio State to the College Football Playoff National Championship, and Steelers Nation is hoping he will be worthy of becoming the true heir apparent to the retired Ben Roethlisberger.
The tension around Boston Red Sox star Rafael Devers has reached the point that team owner John Henry joined the team on the road to air things out, according to MassLive’s Chris Cotillo.
Along with team president Sam Kennedy and chief baseball officer Craig Breslow, Henry reportedly made an unplanned trip to Kansas City for a meeting with the disgruntled star. The meeting consisted of only Devers, Henry and Cora, and was later described as a step in the right direction.
From MassLive:
“I thought it was productive,“ Cora said.
