Alijah Arenas, an 18-year-old USC basketball recruit, has been discharged from a Los Angeles hospital less than a week after a terrifying car accident that left him in a medically induced coma.
The Arenas family, including former NBA star Gilbert Arenas, announced Alijah’s release in a statement reported by the LA Times.
“While his journey to full recovery is just beginning, his spirit remains strong, and he is surrounded by love and support,” the family said.

I’m sick of the media getting on their high horse about everything, but most recently, the prank call that Cleveland Browns fifth-maybe-fourth-string (???) QB Shedeur Sanders was victimized by as he was sliding in the 2025 NFL Draft. Let’s just agree and accept that all prank calls are rude, inconsiderate, mean, or whatever.
Yet, is prank-calling Sanders while he is freefalling in the draft worse than a regular Joe making an hourly wage at a business? Back in my day, prank calls were hilarious, and the more important person you contacted, the funnier the prank.
What stands out as the calendar turns to May? Let’s break down the biggest early trends.
It’s hard to find cooler footage than the moments after the Miracle on Ice, and part of that was because of how regular fans came onto the ice, with some of them famously draping a flag around the neck of netminder Jim Craig.
Of course, that is no bueno these days, at least here in the States, but in Sweden they’re still doing it and one club’s fans gave USA. good ol’ fashioned rink stormin’ this week after sealing a win that earned the team a promotion.

The LPGA is in Utah this week and it has been a while since that was the case.
Last week saw the LPGA Tour play its first major championship of the season in the Chevron Championship and Mao Saigo came out on top of the five-person playoff that it required.
There is no rest for the weary though and the Tour is back in action this week out at Black Desert Resort in Utah. What is notable about this is that the LPGA tour has not hosted an event in Utah in a very long time.
Can running back DJ Giddens give the Indianapolis Colts an added pass-catching presence out of the backfield?
This is an element that the Colts didn’t really have last season. Backup running backs Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson saw very few opportunities, in general, throughout the year. Jonathan Taylor, meanwhile, totaled just 136 receiving yards, which ranked 50th out of 58 eligible backs, and he was 37th in targets.
North Carolina has certainly been in the news regarding head coach Bill Belichick, but not for the reasons one would think for a football program looking to make headlines for its play on the field. No, the ongoing conversation has centered around Belichick’s girlfriend, Jordon Hudson.
When the legendary football coach was hired by North Carolina, the thought of those within the university would be that the anticipation for the upcoming season would garner most of the headlines.

Enzo Maresca has admitted to fears over the artificial pitch at the 3Arena potentially causing injuries when Chelsea face Djurgården in the first leg of their Conference League semi-final.
Negotiating a surface that has attracted plenty of criticism in recent weeks will be a key challenge for Maresca’s team when they face their Swedish hosts on Thursday.
The Atlanta Falcons added an offensive gem to their roster through the 2022 NFL draft, selecting USC wide receiver Drake London with their No. 8 overall pick in the first round.
London is fresh off his best season with the organization in 2024, reeling in 100 catches for 1,271 yards and nine touchdowns through 17 game appearances.
As he heads into the fourth year of his rookie contract with the Falcons, London is eligible for a long-term contract extension.
On Wednesday, the franchise announced its decision to exercise London’s fifth-year option.
London will earn $1.
New York Jets quarterback Jordan Travis has informed the team he will retire from playing football, surprisingly ending his long comeback from a serious leg injury in college.
Travis said in a statement released by the Jets on Wednesday that he “gave everything I had to the rehab process,” but was medically advised to stop playing.
The 24-year-old Travis was a fifth-round draft pick last year out of Florida State, but spent last season on the Jets’ non-football injury list. The team will now place him on the reserve/retired list.
