On Monday, the NFL world was shocked when the Washington Commanders agreed to terms with former first-round pick Javon Kinlaw. Not because the Commanders signed Kinlaw, but because they gave him a three-year deal worth $45 million with $30 million guaranteed.
San Francisco fans couldn’t believe it, and neither could Jets fans. Kinlaw spent four seasons with the 49ers and last season with the Jets. Injuries were an issue for Kinlaw with the 49ers, and, let’s be honest, everyone with the New York Jets stunk in 2024.

No. 1 Tennessee (18-0, 1-0 SEC) opened Southeastern Conference play on Friday. The Vols defeated No. 7 Florida (16-3, 0-1 SEC), 5-3, at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
Rankings reflect the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.
Eighth-year head coach Tony Vitello discussed what has been a key for Tennessee’s undefeated, 18-0, start to the season.
“I think for our guys, to have to regroup and write a new story after hearing last year, last year, last year stuff, they were very ambitious about it,” Vitello said. “They’ve also executed it very well.

Some Washington fans may be disappointed with the Commanders‘ early free-agent moves this week, but the consensus is that general manager Adam Peters is doing a tremendous job.
Last March, the Commanders made a flurry of moves in the opening days of free agency. No, Washington didn’t jump in on the deep end of the free-agent pool, but signed a combination of older players with high character who could still play and younger players with upside. Almost every move worked out perfectly, leading the Commanders to a 12-5 record and an appearance in the NFC championship.

Lando Norris said he was “not getting ahead” of himself, despite making the perfect start to the new Formula One season in Melbourne. The McLaren driver topped all three qualifying sessions to grab the first pole of the year from team-mate Oscar Piastri as McLaren finally showed their full hand.
With wet weather forecast on Sunday, Norris will be nervous about a repeat of Brazil last year when his title hopes were washed away.
While it was a historic night for Steph Curry against the Sacramento Kings, Thursday night also marked the long-awaited return of Jonathan Kunminga. After missing 31 consecutive games due to an ankle injury, Kuminga rejoined Steve Kerr’s rotation on Thursday against the Kings for the first time since Jan. 4.
Kuminga came off the bench, playing 20 minutes against the Kings, showing no signs of rust. The fourth-year wing picked up right where he left off prior to his injury, scoring 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field to go along with three rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Some National League defenders will be seeing double for the rest of the season – literally.
Identical twins Kyrell and Kyreece Lisbie, both former Watford youth players, have been reunited at Braintree Town.
And between them, they have hundreds of thousands of followers on TikTok, where they post videos about the highs and lows of life as a young footballer.
The Philadelphia Eagles continue to stock up on former New York Giants players, this time agreeing to terms with linebacker Patrick Johnson.
In his reunion with the Eagles, Johnson joins former Giants running back Saquon Barkley and cornerback Adoree’ Jackson, who agreed to terms earlier this week.

The 27-year-old Johnson was a seventh-round pick of the Eagles in the 2021 NFL draft.
James Hudson joined the New York Giants during free agency this week, leaving the Cleveland Browns for the — ahem — greener pastures in East Rutherford.
What Giants fans might not know is that Hudson has an uncanny resemblance to musical icon T-Pain.
T-Pain capitalized on that resemblance with a hilarious post on X about turning the franchise around.
