Is this year’s PGA Championship a golf tournament or a safari? I’m starting to get a bit confused.
The second major tournament of golf’s calendar year is underway at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. At the time of writing, Venezuelan Jhonattan Vegas holds a surprising lead after two rounds of play with a score of -8. The 40-year-old is currently looking for his first win at the major.
But before he finishes his appearance, he might have to navigate some rather unexpected obstacles. Other golfers have already had to.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Bryson DeChambeau had eyes down and lips moving as he made his way to sign his scorecard Friday in the PGA Championship, muttering to himself every step of the way.
DeChambeau looked like someone who had thrown away a good round.
He shot 68.
DeChambeau was frustrated with his finish, a tee shot that took one bounce into deep rough, which led to a miscalculation of how it would come out of the rough, which led to bogey.
The big picture? The U.S. Open champion is right in the mix at a major, where he seems to reside a lot these days.
Auburn Tigers head coach Hugh Freeze has addressed the mounting pressure as he enters his third season, making it clear he understands the stakes.
In a recent interview on “The Next Round,” Freeze acknowledged the expectations, stating, “I’m not a fool. I think we’ve got to go to a bowl game.”
This candid admission comes amidst heightened scrutiny, with ESPN placing him as a head coach on the hot seat for 2025 due to a dismal 11-14 record over his first two seasons.
May 16—MOSES LAKE — The Mavericks softball team (15-7) was shut out at home by the Eastmont Wildcats (16-6) 12-0. Head coach Mike Hofheins made no excuses for the outcome of the district championship game.
“We got beaten in all phases, offense, defense, pitching — they came out and played and they put one on us, and we didn’t respond,” he said.
The Mavericks started off on the right foot in the first inning, only allowing one run and throwing Eastmont out with bases loaded. From there, the opportunity to take control of the game was there, but they were unsuccessful.
Few divisions in the league today know how important a backup quarterback is to the long-term success of a roster quite like the NFC East.
No division has won as many Super Bowls either.
Combined, the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, and Washington Commanders have won 14 Super Bowl titles. Of those championships, three titles were won with a backup quarterback starting for their respective teams. If you count the fact that Roger Staubach did not start Week 1 for the Cowboys during their 1971 title season, that number grows to four.
We now know the full Raiders 2025 schedule. Who they play when. What team they play is important. But there’s also importance on when they play those teams. Those factors undoubtedly change things, so they must be incorporated into the difficulty level of the matchup.
For instance, we discovered shortly after the schedule release that the Raiders have the NFL’s worst net rest differential. Which means they get less rest than their opponents more often than any other team in the league.
Sometimes that will be enough to tip the scales in a close matchup.
Celtics star Jayson Tatum won’t be far from Madison Square Garden when Boston faces a must-win situation against the New York Knicks on Friday night as the defending champions attempt to force a deciding Game 7.
The Bears’ plans for a new domed stadium have shifted again, now focusing on a 326-acre property owned by the team in the Arlington Heights suburb.
