The Oklahoma City Thunder (and the Seattle Supersonics before them) have 51 jersey numbers worn by the players who have suited up for the franchise since its founding at the start of the 1967-68 season. To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Thunder Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team.
The Brooklyn Nets have 52 jersey numbers worn by over 600 different players over the course of their history since the franchise was founded in 1967 as a charter member of the American Basketball Association (ABA), when the team was known as the “New Jersey Americans”.
Since then, that league has been absorbed by the NBA with the team that would later become the New York Nets and New Jersey Nets before settling on the name by which they are known today, bringing their rich player and jersey history with them to the league of today.
Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal has agreed to become the general manager of the men’s basketball program at Sacramento State under new coach Mike Bibby.
A person familiar with the situation said Monday that O’Neal will take the voluntary job for the program that his son, Shaqir, recently joined as a player. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the school hadn’t made an announcement.
ESPN first reported the news.

The Philadelphia Eagles streamed down the majestic twin staircases that lead to the White House’s South Lawn and the stand where they were about to be celebrated by the President of the United States at the Nation’s House on Monday afternoon.
But, in what was something of an obvious oddity compared to past events, there were more phones being held up by invited guests memorializing the event than there were Eagles players and coaches coming down those stairs.
This celebration of the Eagles’ Super Bowl championship was great, by the way. That needs to be said.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver runs the sports league with perhaps the worst reputation of any in North America, yet he believes the media covers it in too negative of a light.
Speaking on “The Numbers on the Board” podcast, Silver said that he believes that NBA shows and reporters could use a bit more positivity in the dialogue they create. He didn’t completely trash them, but said he’d like to see some changes.
“I respect the job the media does,” Silver said on The Numbers on the Board Podcast.
Now that the dust is settling on the stunning Shedeur Sanders draft-weekend rollercoaster, more specific details are emerging about the attitude more than a few teams had about him.
Via Jaclyn Hendricks of the New York Post, former NFL quarterback and long-time NFL analyst Boomer Esiason addressed the issue during his morning show on WFAN.
