When the league year begins Wednesday, one of the first moves will be a trade involving Jalen Ramsey
The 2023 NFL league year has yet to begin, but teams are already making news.
On Friday afternoon, the long-awaited trade of the first overall selection was announced, with the Chicago Bears trading out of the top spot in the 2023 NFL Draft in a deal with the Carolina Panthers.
But before the league’s “legal tampering period” begins on Monday, the latest big piece of news was announced.

Gilbert Arenas wants people to see Ja Morant in a different light. The 41-year-old offered a hilariously outlandish spin zone to try and frame the young Grizzlies star’s strip club outing as a positive.
Earlier this month, before and after a road game against the Nuggets, Morant visited Shotgun Willie’s, the self-proclaimed “premiere and most legendary Gentleman’s club” in the Denver Metro area. While there, he decided to flash a handgun on his Instagram Live, which opened an NBA and police investigation.
The deal keeps him in Buffalo through 2026.
The Bills and star linebacker Matt Milano reached an agreement on a two-year contract extension through 2026, the team announced on Sunday. The move saves Buffalo $6 million this offseason, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The exact figure of the deal is unknown at this time.
With the move, the Bills secure one of their best players while also freeing up space during an offseason where they’ll look to retain as much of their star-studded cast as possible. And Milano is a great start.
The cornerback spent parts of four seasons in Los Angeles.
The Dolphins are acquiring cornerback Jalen Ramsey in a trade with the Rams, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Sunday afternoon.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Miami is sending a third-round pick this year (No. 77 overall) and tight end Hunter Long to Los Angeles for the cornerback.
Ramsey is set to enter his eighth NFL season, having been named to six consecutive Pro Bowls. Last season, he played in all 17 games for Los Angeles and registered four interceptions and two sacks.
Wade spent five years with the Tigers before being dismissed amid an FBI investigation into his program.
McNeese State is expected to hire Will Wade as its next men’s basketball head coach, according to reports. The hiring, which is expected to be announced by the school Monday, was reported by Adam Zagoria or Forbes, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports and Jeff Goodman of Stadium.
Wade spent five years as LSU’s head coach from 2017 to ’22, going 108-53, but he ultimately was fired following an investigation into his program.
The free agent wideout reportedly wants a big payday to make his comeback.
After a year away from the NFL while rehabbing a torn ACL, Odell Beckham Jr. evidently has no doubt about his worth. The free agent wide receiver is looking for a new deal that would pay him $20 million annually, according to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio.
The last time NFL fans saw Beckham on the field was Super Bowl LVI, when he was having an incredible game until he suffered the devastating ACL injury.
Baker Mayfield could be headed back to the NFC South.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are targeting Mayfield as a potential starting quarterback option, Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Sunday.
Mayfield began last season as the starting quarterback in Carolina. But he never quite clicked with the Panthers, and he battled some injuries. After Carolina waived him, the former Heisman Trophy winner ended the year as the starter for the Rams.
As the NBA continues to deal with the fallout from Ja Morant’s recent strip club incident, an awkwardly-timed lead-in to its broadcast Thursday did not do any favors. It was not intentional, but it was not a great look.
The entire saga began earlier this month when Morant flashed a gun on an Instagram Live video after playing against the Nuggets in Denver. Photos of his visit to Shotgun Willie’s recently emerged and he was having himself an evening.
There is a very fine line between a fantastic shot and a terrible shot on the par-3 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass. No one walked that line better than Alex Smalley on Sunday at The PLAYERS Championship.
Smalley’s tee shot could have been disastrous. It hit the green hard and took a big bounce. It seemed poised to take a second big bounce and fly over the green and into the water.
But instead, the ball landed directly in the cup. A one-hop dunk. It was a work of art.

The 28-year-old never wants to wear another jersey.
While he still has yet to sign an extension with the Chiefs, star defensive tackle Chris Jones doesn’t appear to be going anywhere—ever. While on Twitter, Jones wrote that he’s grateful and one fan asked if an extension announcement was imminent, leading Jones to make a bold proclamation.
“I’m a chief for life,” he wrote on Twitter. “I will not play for another franchise.”
Needless to say, it appears the 28-year-old is hellbent on getting a deal done. He’s scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent in 2024.
