Another Major League Baseball season is in the books, and the league has moved one step closer to robot umpires. Thanks to a new “highlight” reel of some of the worst calls of the season, it’s easy to see why.
The popular Umpire Auditor X account posted Tuesday about the number and severity of tracked missed calls in the 2024 regular season. Somehow, there were an astonishing 27,336 missed calls by umpires, 1,637 of which resulted in a strikeout.
And take a wild guess who was responsible for the worst missed call of the season.

To help raise money for Hurricane Helene victims, PGA Tour players announce “Birdies for Augusta” at Sanderson Farms Championship.
This week, at the PGA Tour’s Sanderson Farms Championship, defending champion Luke List announced that he and Henrik Norlander created a way to help their local Hurricane Helene victims.
They will participate in the “Birdies for Augusta” initiative to bring attention and raise money for the victims as they call Augusta, Georgia, home.

UFC fighter Ottman Azaitar is being lauded as a hero after rescuing his manager who nearly drowned during a trip to Hawaii. And the whole thing was caught on video.
Azaitar, his manager Ali Abdelaziz and a few of their friends were visiting The Aloha State before making the trip to Salt Lake City for UFC 307. Tape of the incident shows Abdelaziz struggling to stay afloat while swimming with two men near a waterfall.
Abdelaziz isn’t a strong swimmer. The MMA manager accidentally ended up in an area that was deeper than he anticipated.
