The New York Islanders had to do a bit of salary cap housekeeping with starting forward Matt Barzal returning to the lineup, and that meant that Oliver Wahlstrom and Pierre Engvall were the odd men out and were both placed on waivers on Friday.
It hasn’t always been smooth sailing for the 11th-overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, but he didn’t have to wait long before he was picked up by the Boston Bruins.
That’s pretty cool for Wahlstrom. He’s from Portland, Maine, so not too far away and he played one season at Boston College.
I take my Heisman Trophy vote very seriously. It’s the most prestigious individual award in sports, so it deserves the proper attention from voters and fans alike.
This year, my first-place vote went to Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, followed by Colorado’s do-everything star Travis Hunter and Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel, respectively.
Why Jeanty? Because he checks off all of the boxes I look for when deciding who gets the top spot on my ballot.
First, there’s individual success.
Travis Hunter’s dominant season on both sides of the ball resulted in him winning the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night, the second ever for Colorado (Rashaan Salaam, 1994).
