Sometimes, you just gotta try and reinvent yourself. MLB veteran Joey Gallo, a 31-year-old career .194 hitter, was released by the Chicago White Sox after another poor Spring Training at the plate.
That poor showing included one of the worst challenges in the history of challenges. Although, to be fair to Gallo, this is the first year that MLB players can challenge ball or strike calls.
It was probably at this point that Gallo realized a reinvention was necessary.
Jessie Holmes and his team of canines have won the longest-ever Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in history.
Holmes’ “Team Can’t Stop” crossed under the famed Burled Arch in Nome, Alaska, around 2:55 a.m. on Friday after a grueling 10 days, 14 hours, 55 minutes and 41 seconds of racing. They led the race for most of that time.
“It’s hard to put into words, but it’s a magical feeling,” Holmes said after crossing the finish line. “It’s not about this moment now. It’s about all those moments along the trail.
In December, the sports world lost legendary announcer Greg Gumbel, who died after a lengthy battle with cancer. Gumbel had a storied career, but he is perhaps most remembered for his association with the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Gumbel began hosting the NCAA Tournament Selection Show in 1998 and continued in that role until last year. He missed the 2024 telecast for undisclosed reasons, though his later-revealed cancer diagnosis explained his absence.
That ended a streak of 25 years hosting one of the most important sports studio broadcasts in America.

It will be a rematch from a first-round matchup of last year’s MLS Cup playoffs, which saw Atlanta oust Inter Miami – the Supporters’ Shield winners that year.

TALLAHASSEE, Florida — Florida lawmakers have been hesitant to change laws about compensating student athletes, as college sports enter a turbulent and expensive new era thanks to a landmark NCAA court settlement expected in April.
But neighboring states, filled with Florida schools’ rivals on the field and court, are off and running.
The results of House v. NCAA, the culmination of three antitrust lawsuits targeting restrictions on benefits that players can receive for their work and publicity rights, could allow schools to directly pay student athletes for the first time.
The Indianapolis Colts have spent more in 2025 free agency than usual, agreeing to multi-year deals with defensive backs Charvarius Ward and Camryn Bynum, and adding quarterback Daniel Jones to compete with Anthony Richardson. They also restructured right tackle Braden Smith‘s deal. The contracts for Wesley French, Khalil Herbert and Cory Ballentine are not currently available.
Here’s what the Colts have remaining in salary cap space as of March 15, according to Spotrac.
Newcastle United lead Liverpool to stand on the brink of glory after snatching a 2-0 lead at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final.
Newcastle have not won a major domestic trophy in 70 years but Dan Burn’s bullet header and a stunning Alexander Isak finish have putt Eddie Howe‘s side in command.
Arne Slot sent on Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones, removing Ibrahima Konate and Diogo Jota, in an attack-minded double substitution with more than half an hour remaining.

Play has been suspended at TPC Sawgrass as Rory McIlroy holds the lead on the back nine.
The PGA Tour has suspended play at TPC Sawgrass due to lightning approaching the Jacksonville area.
Right before the horn sounded, Rory McIlroy drained a 13-footer for birdie on the par-5 11th hole to grab the solo lead at 12-under par. He then rifled a long-iron down the middle of the fairway on the par-4 12th, his last swing before the stoppage.
McIlroy, of course, is eyeing his second Players Championship title in six years.
