During the NCAA tournament’s opening weekend, five power conference teams punched their proverbial tickets to the Sweet 16 with wins over so-called “mid-majors.”
Top-seeded Florida survived a scare from two-time defending national champion UConn; Auburn outlasted Creighton; Arkansas upset St. John’s; Alabama cruised past Saint Mary’s; and Houston beat Gonzaga.
By most accounts, four of those five power league programs spent more on their rosters than their mid-major opponents, in some cases by as much as $2 million (the outlier is UConn).

Arch Manning appears to be in the best shape of his life now that he’s QB1 for the Texas Longhorns.
Manning spent the last two seasons in a reserve role for the Longhorns behind starter and future NFL passer Quinn Ewers.
He played sparingly during his redshirt season but showed serious flashes in 2024. He finished the season with 939 passing yards, nine passing touchdowns, 108 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns.
The young phenom is the most interesting player in college football this upcoming season, and he appears ready to roll.

I cannot stand the new kickoff. Obviously, Trump can’t either. He mentioned how bad it was at just about every campaign stop last year. Hell, I’m surprised he hasn’t signed an executive order banning it. I’m sure it’s coming.
Anyway, the new format stunk last year in its debut, and, for some reason, the NFL continues to lean into it.

There was no greater character during the inaugural season of TGL than Billy Horschel. He was the most electric, all-in player from day one until his Atlanta Drive GC team won the finals on Tuesday, and it carried over into the team’s celebratory post-match press conference.

We are in week six of the college baseball season and it is time for some SEC baseball power rankings. We have two new teams in 2025 as Texas and Oklahoma have entered the fold to make the toughest conference in college baseball even tougher.
It’s been smooth sailing for Texas and Oklahoma so far. Both are ranked with two series wins to open SEC play.
As for the defending National Champions, the Tennessee Volunteers, they are still rolling on Rocky Top. They are No. 1 in the country and they will remain that way until an SEC team proves to be a worthy challenger.
