Scottie Scheffler began the day with a historic lead, but despite his best efforts, he saw that advantage diminish on day two.
ATLANTA — After setting a PGA Tour “record” at the Tour Championship on Thursday, Scottie Scheffler continued to look like the best player in the world a day later.
Yet, Scheffler, despite obliterating East Lake off the tee, saw his massive lead dwindle from seven to four after posting a 5-under 66.

New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson called out Mark Cuban this week after the Dallas Mavericks minority owner went after Brunson’s parents in 2023.
Brunson left the Mavericks in 2023, signing a four-year, $104 million contract with the Knicks. At the time, Cuban was asked by reporters how he let Brunson leave Dallas…and blamed Brunson’s parents.
“Where it went south was when Rick (Brunson, Jalen’s father) took over, when the parent took over, or parents took over,” Cuban said at the time.
The Phillies MVP hasn’t hit a homer since Aug. 9.

Schauffele bounced back Friday to keep himself in contention at the Tour Championship as he learns the new East Lake.
Xander Schauffele rallied after opening round 70 to post a bogey-free 7-under 64 on Friday at the Tour Championship. It seems he is finding the magic of East Lake again.
Schauffele sits five shots back of Scottie Scheffler at 16-under overall and one back of Collin Morikawa, who shot an 8-under 63 to put him at 17-under total.

Collin Morikawa tried to track down Tour Championship leader Scottie Scheffler, posting the low round of the week to cut into his lead.
ATLANTA — When Collin Morikawa heard his name called on the first tee on Friday, he faced a seven-shot deficit to World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who blistered the newly restored East Lake the day before.
