Bailey Zappe got a lot of playing time in the New England Patriots‘ preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers. A little too much playing time, if you ask Rob Gronkowski.
When Zappe walked onto the field at Gillette Stadium with about five minutes to go in the first quarter, he was welcomed by a chorus of boos. No offense to Zappe, of course. But the fans in New England wanted to see more of No. 3 overall draft pick Drake Maye, who completed only one series. Zappe threw for 108 yards before exiting the game with four minutes to go in the third quarter.

In the PGA Tour’s regular season finale, multiple big names missed the cut at the Wyndham Championship, including Jordan Spieth.
The Wyndham Championship has been a wild weekend — a marathon to finish the regular season of the PGA Tour. Play started Friday, and the cut was not made until Sunday morning.
This week was make-or-break for many of the golfers in the field, as plenty were trying to get inside that final 70 for the FedEx Cup playoffs.
Many guys were also looking to improve their standings to prolong their season as long as possible.

In a back-and-forth matchup few could have predicted, Team USA squeezed out a one-point win over France to secure their 8th consecutive gold medal.
It wasn’t the dominant victory most anticipated, but Team USA still got it done, pulling out a 67-66 win over France to take home the gold medal.
The win marks the U.S. women’s 8th consecutive gold medal — and 61st straight Olympic victory — but was a thrilling, back-and-forth affair few could have predicted considering America’s dominance throughout this tournament.

The most dominant women’s basketball team in the world continued its incredible streak on Sunday in Paris. Team USA survived France’s best effort, never pulling away but doing enough to win the Olympic gold medal. 
Team USA won gold with a one-point victory, 66-65, despite entering the contest as 16-point favorites. 
The United States Women’s National Basketball Team has now won eight straight Olympic gold medals, dating back to 1996, and 10 of the past 11 dating back to 1984 (they won bronze in 1992).
