The NBA Summer League ends Monday night, with the Memphis Grizzlies and the Miami Heat playing for the title. If you didn’t know that already, I don’t blame you.
Like the actual NBA, the summer league hands out awards like first and second-team selections, and league MVP.
I’m going to be honest (because that’s always the best policy), I haven’t paid attention to the summer league action for one second – and I’m most of you haven’t either. I did see Houston Rockets guard Reed Sheppard wow some people with some fancy ball-handling, but that was only in my X feed.

Cubs Skipper Craig Counsell Gets Into Tense Exchange With ESPN Reporter

Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell had to shield one of his players after an ESPN reporter made a scathing comment on his recent performance.
Counsell defended Cubs third baseman Christopher Morel after ESPN’s Jesse Rogers said the player was “swinging for the lake” after striking out in a crucial at-bat during Sunday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Cubs survived a 10-inning slog, 2-1.
Still, Rogers wanted answers about Morel’s struggle, which has been the theme of his 2024 season.
