Incredibly tragic news out of Forth Worth, Texas, as a competitor in the CrossFit Games drowned during a swimming event on Day 1 of the competition. 
CrossFit Games released a statement around 12:30 E.T. confirming the sad news. 
Reports began to emerge that something had gone seriously wrong during the event on Thursday morning. 
According to CBS, a “CBS News Texas chopper was over the reservoir, which showed first responders pulling a body out of the water and putting it in a bodybag.

There will be no Kishane Thompson vs. Noah Lyles rematch in the 4x100m relay.
For the first time in 20 years, Jamaica’s men will not be a part of the 4×100 meters relay final at the Olympic Games.
In Thursday’s qualifying heats, Jamaica could only muster a fourth-place finish behind Canada, France, and China. Only the top three from the two heats automatically qualify, with the next two fastest times from either heat rounding out the eight-team final.

There may not be a more intriguing team entering the NFL season than the Philadelphia Eagles. Two seasons ago, the Birds went 14-3 in the regular season before cakewalking to the Super Bowl and losing a heart-breaker to the Kansas City Chiefs. Philadelphia took that momentum into last season and started 10-1 before losing five of its last six games and getting boat raced by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Wild Card round.
Head coach Nick Sirianni went from being the guy in Philadelphia to just a guy who will be firmly on the hot seat if the Eagles come out of the gates slow this season.

It’s easy to forget with how much action there has been on track in Formula 1 this year, that the 2024 season started with mostly off-track drama, much of it centering on Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner.
The accusations came from a female team employee who claimed that Horner had engaged in inappropriate behavior.
An investigation followed, but Horner was found to have not done anything wrong. Meanwhile, the accuser was placed on fully-paid suspension by the team.
