It isn’t possible to hit a better table tennis shot than this.
The Olympics are the best introduction possible to the many incredible sports that viewers typically don’t get a chance to watch. From sport climbing to kayak cross to breaking to handball, the Olympics give fans a chance to dive into new sports and marvel at the athletes who have perfected them. There’s also something beautiful about watching Olympic athletes master the things even non-athletes have competed in frequently over the years.
Table tennis is a perfect example of the latter.

Simone Biles concluded her third Olympic Games
Navy football coach Brian Newberry tried to pull off a touching moment, and it backfired in embarrassing fashion.
The team’s official X account tweeted a video Saturday of Newberry informing defensive end Chreign LaFond during practice that his sister Thea had won gold for Dominica in the triple jump at the Olympic games in Paris.
Pretty awesome and heartwarming, right? Well, that was certainly the intent, but that wasn’t the outcome that happened on social media.
People roasted Newberry on X for not letting LaFond watch it live.

Chasing Carl Lewis and Usain Bolt, Noah Lyles is as confident as ever
Noah Lyles arrived in Paris for the 2024 Summer Olympics looking to accomplish something that an American sprinter has not done since Carl Lewis at the 1984 Summer Olympics.
Part one of that job is done, as Lyles secured gold in the 100-meter on Sunday in one of the closest races in Olympic history.
Part two of that job gets underway today, as Lyles begins his pursuit of gold in the 200-meter sprint. Lewis was the last American to capture both in the same Olympics, back in 1984.

Hailey Van Lith, Dearica Hamby, Cierra Burdick, and Rhyne Howard have a chance to being first-time Olympic medalists as 3×3 play wraps up in Paris.
The U.S. women’s 3×3 basketball team will compete for an Olympic medal today, after rattling off five consecutive victories and qualifying for the semi-finals. It was a sluggish start in Olympic play — the team dropped its first three games and was a loss away from elimination — but after turning things around, Team USA will once again contend for a medal.
The U.S.
Monday also sees a handful of knockout round matches in beach and indoor volleyball, plus the U.S. women’s 3×3 basketball side competes in the semifinal.
