The historic game marked the first time a WNBA team played in Boston — and the Sun did so in front of a sold-out crowd.
TD GARDEN — The Connecticut Sun and Los Angeles Sparks made history for becoming the first WNBA teams to ever play a game in Boston. They did it in front of a sold-out crowd at TD Garden, in a down-to-the-wire finish that had the fans on their feet.

But, unless you lived in LA or Boston, the only place you could watch the game was on WNBA League Pass or on the league’s X livestream.

The Baltimore Orioles for most of the summer seemed like the team to beat in the American League. The New York Yankees, struggled after a hot stretch with injuries and under-performance. And the Orioles took advantage.
Gunnar Henderson, Adley Rutschman, Colton Cowser, Jordan Westburg and Anthony Santander make up one of the best offenses in baseball. Corbin Burnes, Grayson Rodriguez and Kyle Bradish solidified an above-average rotation. 
Then the injuries started.
Bradish went down with Tommy John surgery, John Means had Tommy John. Grayson Rodriguez suffered a lat strain.

History was made on a Tuesday night in Boston, as the first-ever WNBA game was played in TD Garden in front of a raucous, sold-out crowd. The Sun defeated the Sparks 69-61, but the final score seemed almost secondary to the moment itself, which felt larger than life and teeming with historical significance.
