Georgia basketball is heading into the offseason with Mike White needing to fill an opening on his staff for a new assistant coach.
Erik Pastrana, who came to Georgia with White from Florida in 2022, is joining the new coaching staff at Miami, a source confirmed to the Athens Banner-Herald Monday night.
It’s a move back home for Pastrana, a Miami native who graduated from Florida State and has coached at Florida International and Florida Atlantic.

Atlanta Hawks forward Georges Niang did his best to get underneath the skin of ascending Philadelphia Sixers guard Quentin Grimes during their matchup on Sunday.

Niang called out Grimes with a fury during the action, barking at him while shooting free throws. Niang figuratively dialed up the taunting to an 11 when he started calling out Grimes as nothing more than a reserve basking in the success of being a placeholder for injured Sixers guard Tyrese Maxey.
In President Donald Trump’s first term, it was chic for sports champions to turn down White House invitations.
Not anymore.
Ohio State, which won college football’s national championship in January, became the latest to accept one of the biggest honors you can receive in sports.
Head coach Ryan Day confirmed in a press conference on Monday that his Buckeyes would visit Trump at the White House on April 14.
Like Trump, 2024 represented quite a comeback for Day. In December, the Buckeyes were reeling after losing a fourth straight game to Michigan.
