March Madness can’t be properly appreciated without Championship Week(s). Let the fun begin.
Let’s just say it: Things are weird. Things have been weird. The picture of what exactly America is or what it’s supposed to be has never been murkier or more disputed. The conversations necessary to clear that picture up have never been more difficult to facilitate.
Maybe this is why I find myself now, perhaps more than ever before, despite everything, so drawn to college basketball’s postseason.
March Madness is America.
It is deeply flawed.

Congratulations to Bryant on its regular season title, but the America East still goes through Vermont. Maxx Crosby got PAID.
The superstar edge rusher has agreed to a three-year, $106.5 million contract extension with the Las Vegas Raiders that makes him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. 
The deal includes a whopping $91.5 million guaranteed, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
“I told him last night, ‘This isn’t for what you’ve done, but for what you’re about to do,’” new Raiders general manager John Spytek said. “He’s chasing championships and so are we and that’s why we’re excited to start.

Natasha Cloud asked out of Connecticut shortly after she was traded there from the Phoenix Mercury, The Athletic reported.
Natasha Cloud requested a trade from the Connecticut Sun after she was traded there in early February, The Athletic reported on Tuesday. Cloud, an elite two-way guard who was fresh off a strong season with the Phoenix Mercury, landed in Connecticut in the blockbuster trade that sent Alyssa Thomas to Phoenix.
