NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Christian Ings scored 19 points and top-seeded Norfolk State held off No. 5 Morgan State 58-55 Friday night to earn a spot in Saturday’s Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament championship game.
The Spartans will face second-seeded South Carolina State, which beat sixth-seeded North Carolina Central, in Saturday’s championship contest.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Atin Wright had 24 points as second-seeded North Texas knocked off tenth-seeded Tulsa, 77-59 in the quarterfinal round of the American Athletic Conference tournament Friday
North Texas advances to face the winner of the quarterfinal between East Carolina and No. 3-seeded UAB.
Wright shot 7 for 16 (3 for 11 from 3-point range) and 7 of 7 from the free-throw line for the Mean Green (24-7). Jasper Floyd added 11 points while shooting 3 of 5 from the field and 4 for 4 from the line while they also had five assists.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Evan Mobley had 22 points and 11 rebounds, Darius Garland added 20 points and nine assists and the Cleveland Cavaliers recorded a franchise-record 16th straight victory with a 133-124 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night.
De’Andre Hunter scored 18 points, while Jarrett Allen had 16. The win eclipsed Cleveland’s previous standard for consecutive wins with 15 to open this season.
Ja Morant led Memphis with a season-high 44 points to go with eight rebounds and seven assists. Jaren Jackson Jr. and Brandon Clarke finished with 13 points each.
