Lots of championship hardware was at Busch Stadium on Sunday, but it wasn’t because of the St. Louis Cardinals.
“The Lou’s” MLB franchise hasn’t won a World Series since 2011 (sorry to rub it in, Cardinals fans). But two of the city’s natives more than made up for its lack of baseball titles, and brought their trophies to the ballpark today.
Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk and Boston Celtics guard Jayson Tatum both grew up in St. Louis, and each one of them won the title in their respective sports less than two months ago (Tkachuk in the NHL, Tatum in the NBA).

Jordan Spieth’s 2024 season came to a close in Memphis and announced that he would need surgery after his round.
Jordan Spieth will undergo surgery on the torn sheath in his left wrist after a disappointing finish at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, which ended his season. This injury has troubled him since the week before the 2023 PGA Championship at Oak Hill.

Indiana Fever sensation Caitlin Clark continues to re-write the WNBA record books, breaking yet another rookie record in Sunday’s game against the Seattle Storm. 
Clark is now the all-time leader in assists in a season for a rookie, and she did it in her 28th game in the league. 
Clark recorded her 226th assist during Sunday’s game against Seattle. The previous record holder was Ticha Penicheiro, and she did it over 25 years ago (1998). 
To be fair to Penicheiro, she recorded 225 assists in 30 games, which was the length of the season in 1998.

Former prep classmates Jayson Tatum and Matthew Tkachuk were back in St. Louis on Sunday
This spring two former classmates at Chaminade Prep High School in St. Louis closed in on glory in their respective sports, and as they did so a photo of the two of them together quickly went viral on social media. While Matthew Tkachuk and the Florida Panthers were closing in on the Stanley Cup, Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics were tracking down an NBA title of their own.
