One of the more surprising stories of the Major League Baseball offseason was the announcement that ESPN would no longer broadcast baseball games after the 2025 season. ESPN exercised the option to withdraw from its package of games, including Sunday Night Baseball and the Home Run Derby, seemingly out of nowhere.
All because MLB wouldn’t accept a massive cut in fees, from over $500 million per year, to just $200 million.
MLB commissioner Rob Manfred spoke about the split recently on Mad Dog Unleashed with Chris Russo, saying he wasn’t surprised.

The Falcons signed tight end Teagan Quitoriano on Friday, the team announced.
They also made the signing of German-born kicker Lenny Krieg official. The addition of Krieg previously was reported.
Quitoriano entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick of the Texans in 2022, and he spent most of his first three seasons in Houston. He briefly was on the Bears’ practice squad last season before re-joining the Texans.
As a rookie for the Texans, Quitoriano appeared in nine games with six starts and caught seven of his 14 targets for 113 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 16.

Earlier this week, Competition Committee chairman Rich McKay addressed the situation during a call with reporters.
He said that the issue has come up before, but that it hasn’t been a recent topic.
“It has been discussed, but it’s been a little while, so it’ll be a fresh discussion,” McKay said, via Nolan Bianchi of the Detroit News.

BOSTON — Americans Madison Chock and Evan Bates posted the world’s best rhythm dance score in two years, opening their bid to become the first ice dancers to win three consecutive world titles in 28 years.
Chock and Bates tallied 90.18 points at TD Garden on Friday, taking a 3.74-point lead into Saturday’s free dance (1:30-5 p.m. ET, Peacock, and 3-5 p.m., USA Network).
Canadians Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier, who beat Chock and Bates at the Four Continents Championships last month, are in second. Gilles and Poirier are three-time world medalists — all silver or bronze.
