I know not everyone can appreciate soccer. It’s not for everyone and can be a bit of an acquired taste, like a complex, robust cabernet sauvignon with minimal scoring and extra flopping.
But I think more people would get into it if there was more action like what we saw following a Major Arena Soccer League match between the Milwaukee Wave and Tacoma Stars on Wednesday.
I wasn’t familiar with the MASL, but I like it already for reasons we’re about to get into.
The Wave and Stars had just wrapped up an overtime thriller with the Wave taking a 7-6 win.

Happy birthday to Caitlin Clark as the WNBA superstar celebrated her 23rd birthday where else, but the basketball court.
Wednesday, the Indiana Fever tweeted a video of Clark spending her time at the team’s facilities where she did what any of us would do on our birthday and shoot some 3-pointers. But unlike the rest of us, Caitlin Clark is Caitlin Clark for a reason, as the video showed her netting 50 out of 54 shots as if it was nothing.

The birds are flying to the Super Bowl once again.
For the third time this season, the Philadelphia Eagles will square off with the Washington Commanders.
This time, a spot in Super Bowl LIX is on the line.
The two teams split their season series, with the Eagles winning back in Week 11 at Lincoln Financial Field by a final score of 26-18, while the Commanders took the rematch in Week 16 by a final score of 36-33.
Now the rubber match is on the docket, with both teams hoping to head to New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX.
We got what will almost certainly prove to be the heavyweight bout of the year in the National Hockey League, and it’s all thanks to a couple of the league’s finest pugilists, Ryan Reaves of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Mathieu Olivier of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
This game was always going to be way more intriguing than the team’s record would suggest, because the Blue Jackets have turned it on as of late and are undoubtedly in playoff contention despite a slow start.

It’s finally Buffalo’s year.
The Buffalo Bills have waited years for this moment. Now they’re back, and facing a familiar foe. Once again the fate of the AFC hinges on a game between the Bills and Chiefs, but this is the first time since 2021 that they’ve met in the Championship game.
For Buffalo this is about turning a page. Getting the monkey off their back. Finally slaying the football giant that has ended their season in three of the last four years.
