ST. LOUIS (AP) — Kyle Leahy pitched 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball, Iván Herrera drove in three runs and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Milwaukee Brewers 6-3 on Monday night.
Leahy (4-3) struck out five and walked two while giving up six hits. Riley O’Brien recorded the final two outs and earned his 10th save of the season.
JJ Wetherholt went 2 of 4 with two RBIs, and Masyn Winn added an RBI and a run scored.
Wetherholt opened the scoring with a single to center field that scored Winn in the second inning, giving the Cardinals an early lead they never surrendered.

Jackson Chourio shined bright in his season debut with four hits, including two doubles and a walk. Unfortunately for the young superstar, the rest of the Brewers lineup could not come through with the clutch hit when needed most, stranding 12 runners on base.

MANHATTAN — Days after Casey Alexander said he might be done adding to his inaugural Kansas State basketball roster, he’s added another player to the team.
Nash Stark, a 6-foot-7, 235-pound high school prospect out of Nashville, announced his commitment to the Wildcats on Monday, May 4. His commitment comes less than a month after he was offered a preferred walk-on position at Belmont.
Alexander teased that there was a chance he would bring in a walk-on-caliber player who could be another body in practices rather than being a rotational player. Stark fits that mold.
On a day in which some big, dark, looming injury news was made, some big, dark, looming clouds — literal, not metaphorical — hung over downtown Detroit.
Eventually, those clouds caused a rain delay, but after dodging the drops, the Tigers dropped the opening contest of their three-game home series against the Red Sox, 5-4.
