It’s been a tough couple of weeks for Bryce Young. But if there’s anyone who can empathize, it’s Baker Mayfield.
The No. 1 overall pick by the Carolina Panthers in 2023, Young struggled mightily in his first season. Now, just two weeks into 2024, things haven’t gotten better. Panthers head coach Dave Canales announced Monday that the team would bench the 23-year-old in favor of seasoned veteran Andy Dalton.
Mayfield, too, was a No. 1 overall pick — by the Cleveland Browns in 2018.

McIlroy had a crazy first round at the BMW PGA Championship as he had to get creative and worth through a broken club to contend.
Rory McIlroy signed for a 5-under 67 Thursday at the BMW PGA Championship, but it was not easy.
The Northern Irishman was 4-under through six holes. From there, things went up and down for him, including a left-handed putt and his equipment failing on the par-5 12th.
On the 12th hole, McIlroy’s second shot saw his club head fly off after impact.

Following the Chicago Bears‘ loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday night, a video went viral of an interaction between the two starting quarterbacks. During post-game handshakes, C.J. Stroud appeared to offer some advice or encouragement to Williams. But Williams didn’t seem too receptive to it.

NFL kickers are rewriting the record books for distance and accuracy in 2024.
When the NFL moved back the extra point from the 2-yard line to the 15 in 2015, the reasoning was basically that the kicks were too boring. NFL kickers made 99.3% of their extra points in 2014, the season before the rule change, and the league thought that pushing it back would both make the kicks more difficult and incentivize teams into going for two.
It worked, for the most part.
