Buck is out in Flushing.
The New York Mets split with manager Buck Showalter on Sunday afternoon. An emotional Showalter, 67, relayed the team’s decision to go in “a new direction” in 2024, ending his tenure after two seasons.
Here’s what the skip said:
“I was honored to get a chance to manage a second New York team and I’m proud of what the Mets did,” Showalter shared.
He added, “I wish things could’ve gone better this season because Mets fans deserve that.

Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett was involved in a concerning sequence during the third quarter of the team’s Week 4 matchup with the Texans. On 4th and 1, Pickett attempted to evade pressure and was instead wrapped up and brought down, immediately grabbing for his knee.
Multiple additional angles of the video, and still shots of both the play and Pickett came to light shortly after, and it was apparent the quarterback was in pain.
As seen in the video below at the very end, Pickett went down and appeared to quickly reach for his knee area.

The Red Sox and baseball world received sad news on Sunday with the death of pitcher Tim Wakefield. Wakefield’s dire condition with brain cancer became public last week against the wishes of his family. He was 57 years old.
The knuckleballer played 17 seasons with the Red Sox after beginning his career with the Pirates. He compiled a 186–168 record with a 4.43 ERA during his Boston career and is currently ranked second in franchise history in games pitched (590) and strikeouts (2,046), and first in innings thrown (3,006).

Tim Wakefield, one of the greatest knuckle ball pitchers of all-time, has died after a battle with brain cancer. He was 57.
The Boston Red Sox announced the news on Sunday.
“Our hearts are broken with the loss of Tim Wakefield,” the team statement read. “Wake embodied true goodness; a devoted husband, father, and teammate, beloved broadcaster, and the ultimate community leader. He gave so much to the game and all of Red Sox Nation.”

LSU has been playing football since 1893, and has usually been good on defense.
That was not the case on Saturday night in Oxford, Mississippi. LSU allowed the most yards it has ever given up – 706 in a 55-49 loss to Ole Miss. Just last week, the Rebels managed only 301 yards in a 24-10 loss at Alabama. Even LSU’s horrible 2020 defense under coordinator Bo Pelini was never this bad in one game.

NFL fans loved to see Titans running back Derrick Henry’s vintage performance on Sunday vs. the Bengals.
In the first half alone, Henry rushed for 72 yards and one touchdown to help pushing Tennessee’s lead to 24–3 when entering halftime.
Henry didn’t just score this one rushing touchdown, though. Right before halftime, the running back switched roles briefly by becoming a quarterback as he smoothly threw a jump touchdown pass to Josh Whyle. Fans and the Bengals offense alike didn’t see that passing touchdown coming.
