In 2021, a woman named Lindsey Hill accused then-star pitcher Trevor Bauer of sexual assault and strangulation. Bauer adamantly denied the allegations.
The Dodgers placed Bauer on administrative leave three days later and released him in 2023. He has not pitched in MLB since the reporting of Hill’s accusations.

At long last, North America’s longest run of playoff futility is over.
For the first time in nearly two decades, the Twins won a postseason game on Tuesday, downing the Blue Jays 3–1 in Game 1 of the American League Wild Card series. The victory marked Minnesota’s first playoff win since Oct. 5, 2004, snapping an 18-game losing streak that had grown into the longest such postseason run in North American sports history.
An athlete’s ability to harness their emotions, particularly in the heat of the moment of their respective sports, is vital to success.
Unfortunately for Australian tennis player Marc Polmans, who had an opportunity to close out his Shanghai Masters qualifying match against Stefano Napolitano on Tuesday, a loss of composure proved to result in the end of his run at the tournament.
Up 6–6 (6–5) in the second-set tiebreak after winning the first set 7–6, Polmans, who is ranked No. 140 in the world, struck his return volley into the net.
The scoreboard showed four errors for the Rays, a postseason franchise worst. It was only a hint of how badly they played in Tuesday’s 4–0 loss to the Rangers in Game 1 of this American League wild-card series.
Now the Rays are one loss away from flushing a 99-win season, just as they did last year when their 86 wins went poof after losing two games to Cleveland in which they scored just one run. Tampa Bay has lost six straight postseason games, the past three of them while scoring one run. Total.
Plenty of public commitments were made to Team USA from big names across the league, while other stars had more distinct responses.
