The look and feel of regular-season baseball has changed significantly over the past several years.
Games are markedly shorter, thanks to the advent of the pitch clock. Multi-extra-inning marathons have become an endangered species as the pandemic-era “ghost runner“ has stuck around for the long haul. Other subtle tweaks have created a sport that looks different from baseball in 2013 or even ’18.
However, some changes don’t carry over into the postseason.

The NFL has revised its policy in regard to gambling, making penalties more severe for players who bet on NFL games, the league announced Friday. Additionally, the punishments for betting on games in other leagues while in an NFL workplace will be alleviated as part of the agreement.
The new policy, which was agreed to by both the NFL and the players union, now calls for a one-year suspension for any player who bets on an NFL game and two years if the player bets on his own team’s game. If the league finds that a player fixed a game, they will be banned from the NFL for life.

Chamblee wasted no time to put Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson in his place after the ridiculous pairings he put together for Day 1.
Like the other American golf fans, golf analyst Brandel Chamblee was confused with Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson’s pairing selections. The captain made some interesting choices, including putting two rookies together for both sessions.
Team USA got swept 4-0 during Friday’s foursome matches. In the afternoon, they went 0-1-3.
In the wake of the Bucks’ blockbuster acquisition of Damian Lillard, the previously disgruntled ex-Blazers star finally appears to be at peace with where he is in his career, according to Gilbert Arenas.
The former NBA All-Star revealed as much Friday on his podcast, No Chill with Gilbert Arenas, where Arenas shared that Lillard texted him after the deal.
After months of negotiating, and more than a few stops and starts, it’s official: Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will meet for the undisputed heavyweight championship in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
There’s no date—late December of this year or January/February of next year are the targets, per a source with direct knowledge of the deal—and Fury still has business with Francis Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight whom Fury will face Oct. 28. But if Fury comes out unscathed, boxing’s two top heavyweights will meet to crown the division’s first undisputed champion since 1999.

Rams coach Sean McVay said wide receiver Cooper Kupp will return to practice next week when his window of activation first opens up.
Los Angeles placed Kupp on injured reserve before the season after the wide receiver injured his hamstring early in training camp. While Kupp tried to get ready for the start of the season, the Rams decided it was better to give the 30-year-old at least the first quarter of the season off.
By starting the year on injured reserve, Kupp is required to miss at least the first four games of the season.

The Americans were embarrassed Day 1 at the Ryder Cup, and captain Zach Johnson doesn’t appear to have learned his lesson.
Team USA’s start to the 44th Ryder Cup at Marco Simone Golf Club went as poorly as humanly possible. The Americans did not win a single match during an individual day for the first time in Ryder Cup history.
They trail 6.5 to 1.5 after Day One.
A lot of people laid blame at the feet of captain Zach Johnson, with some calling for his job.. His choices for foursome and four-ball pairings were very peculiar.
