Christian McCaffrey showed why he’s the rare RB who can win NFL MVP
In the National Football League, the MVP award has become something of a quarterback award. A QB has won the award in 10 straight seasons, and 14 of the last 15 MVP awards have been secured by a quarterback. The last non-QB to bring home MVP honors? Adrian Peterson back in 2012.
Is this the year Christian McCaffrey breaks that streak?
If Sunday is any indication, it very well might be.

It didn’t take long for Rory McIlroy to turn the page from Team Europe’s dominant 2023 Ryder Cup victory and look ahead to the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. Before the champagne really got flowing in Rome, McIlroy took the time to guarantee that his European squad would retain the Ryder Cup in two years’ time in New York.
“I’ve said this for the last probably six or seven years to anyone that will listen: I think one of the biggest accomplishments in golf right now is winning an away Ryder Cup,’’ McIlroy said. “And that’s what we’re going to do at Bethpage.

Amazon can’t muster enthusiasm for their ‘primetime’ Thursday Night Football matchup. And they’re not hiding how bored to tears they are about having to broadcast a ‘heavyweight matchup’ between the Washington Commanders (1-3) and Chicago Bears (0-4).

Thoughts and prayers to whoever has to promote the Thursday night game of Bears vs Commanders… sheesh

Somewhere in Houston, perhaps outside NRG Stadium where the Texans play, a statue of Lovie Smith should be erected.
Sounds weird because Smith was fired in January after only one year as the Texans head coach. But before that happened, Smith helped author a 32-31 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in the 2022 season finale.
And that victory knocked the Texans out of the spot for the first overall selection in the April draft. So the Texans had virtually no choice but to draft C.J. Stroud with the No. 2 pick.
And Stroud is the draft’s best quarterback so far.

Taylor Swift attended the Chiefs–Jets game on Sunday night where she got to see Travis Kelce and Kansas City pull out another win, though this one turned out to be a lot closer of a game than many thought it would be.
The pop star was seen arriving at MetLife Stadium with a number of other celebrities and NBC later showed a nice moment that Swift shared with Kelce’s mom.
There was, however, one strange cutaway to Swift by NBC after Patrick Mahomes threw an interception.

The NFL is fully leaning into the hype Taylor Swift is bringing to the league.
Swift attended her second straight Chiefs game amid rumors she’s dating Travis Kelce, and sat in a suite loaded with A-list talent for the game at MetLife Stadium against the Jets.
She was joined by Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Blake Lively and Sophie Turner as they watched the Chiefs squeak out a close win.

We learned last week that the Texans made the right decision in drafting quarterback C.J. Stroud. In Week 4, we learned more about the Texans as a whole, but it’s too soon to offer a full assessment of DeMeco Ryans’s rising squad.
But we might have learned a lot more about the team the Texans defeated handily Sunday. The Steelers have plenty of issues on both sides of the ball, and it’s time to question whether they’re pretenders when it comes to playoff teams in the AFC.
The Eagles (4–0) have also had their issues, but they have found a way to remain undefeated.

The Chargers had Justin Herbert’s back after Jerry Tillery’s inexcusable late hit.
The Los Angeles Chargers drafted defensive tackle Jerry Tillery with the No. 29 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. The Notre Dame product never lived up to the Chargers’ high hopes, and the team eventually waived him during his fourth season. Tillery would catch on inside the division with the Las Vegas Raiders, and on Sunday he got the opportunity to face-off against his former team.
With the Chargers, Tillery had a reputation for making bone-headed plays and drawing penalties.
