In what really (and unfortunately) shouldn’t be news to anyone who follows Major League Baseball, notoriously bad umpire Ángel Hernández had another horrific performance behind home plate on Sunday, and he once again left MLB fans wondering how he’s able to keep his job. 
Hernandez was calling balls and strikes in the series finale between the San Francisco Giants and Atlanta Braves, and let’s just say he had some struggles figuring out where the strike zone was for both teams.

Golf fans can get rowdy, and while most keep it respectable and do their yelling after a shot has been hit, it isn’t always the case. Max Homa, unfortunately, had a bad fan experience over the weekend at the BMW Championship.
Homa faced a five-foot birdie putt on the 17th hole at Olympia Fields during the third round. When he pulled the putter back, he heard a fan scream “pull it,” and while he managed to make the putt for birdie, it was still incredibly annoying.

Is Apple gearing up to buy ESPN?
That’s the claim Wall Street insider Dan Ives is making, and he thinks a deal between Disney and Apple is pretty much inevitable.
Apple already dabbles in sports with the MLS and MLB, and attempted and failed to secure the PAC-12’s new media deal.
The tech powerhouse hasn’t been shy about wanting to get into sports. Ives, the managing director of equity research at Wedbush Securities, believes a deal simply makes too much sense.

Phillies infielder Bryson Stott used a stunning custom bat during the 2023 Little League Classic on Sunday in Williamsport, Pennsylvania against the Nationals.
The 25-year-old, in back-to-school spirit, went with the uniquely designed No. 2 pencil bat during Sunday’s annual showdown as part of the festivities surrounding the Little League World Series.
The bat, which was made by the Pennsylvania-based bat company Victus, was designed to replicate a No. 2 pencil, including the bright pink eraser, green ferrule, yellow body and black tip.
