As soon as Mississippi State head football coach Zach Arnett took to the podium at SEC Media Days, he acknowledged the late legend that preceded him. Mike Leach’s opening statement at the same event a year prior was just seven words — the shortest ever — and he made it without a tie.

I’ve already said too much, and that combined with wearing a tie, I’m sure I’ve disappointed him a little bit here today. In recognition of his tremendous impact and influence not only on the game of football but on myself, I’m going to do my best to keep this short and sweet.

If you haven’t heard, NFL running back, Saquon Barkley is mad that the New York Giants did not give in to his contract extension demands.
When both sides failed to reach a contract extension for Barkley, the team franchise tagged him.

Through a bevy of headlines, and now a podcast appearance, Barkley is throwing shade at New York for not offering him his preferred contract extension.

Jets defensive lineman Quinnen Williams was thrilled to report to the first day of training camp Wednesday in Florham Park, New Jersey.
The All-Pro defensive tackle is nearly a week removed from agreeing to his new four-year deal worth $96 million, making him the second-highest earner at his position behind Rams superstar Aaron Donald. Prior to earning the new deal, Williams did not participate in the team’s offseason program as he was seeking a new contract.

Rickie Fowler won the Rocket Mortgage Classic earlier this month. It was his first PGA Tour victory in four years. This week, at the Open Championship, Fowler is attempting to accomplish something he’s never done: win a major golf tournament.
For people who recently started following golf, they may not know that Fowler was once expected to be the next great American golfer. Fowler finished in the Top 5 of all four majors in 2014. He became the first American to accomplish that.

But unlike Smith, she didn’t bother to concern herself with facts.
Kimberley A. got performatively mad during a segment responding to an ESPN list of the top 10 quarterbacks in the NFL. Specifically, she’s rattled with Eagles QB Jalen Hurts ranking sixth.
She said Hurts is a victim. And called him “the most disrespected player in the NFL.

NASHVILLE — How do you replace a quarterback like Anthony Richardson? You can’t, but Florida coach Billy Napier is going to need to make a decision pretty soon. Whether it’s Graham Mertz or Jack Miller, both of these guys seem like placeholders in regards to the future.
But the real question is how this offense will run with Billy Napier calling plays. The growth Napier has seen this summer from both quarterbacks will need to transfer over to the field pretty quickly if the Gators are looking for a successful 2023.

Few NBA players in history have exercised their power as prolifically as future Hall of Fame guard James Harden. First, Harden successfully demanded a trade from the Rockets in Nov. 2020, eventually landing himself on the Nets. In Feb. 2022, he was traded again, from Brooklyn to the 76ers.
Now, Harden is attempting to force his way off Philadelphia in an attempt to join the Clippers—a move that has put the team “in precarious position,” per Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports.
