Nicki McCray-Penson, a two-time Olympic goal medalist and women’s college basketball coach, has died. She was 51.
McCray-Penson returned to the sideline as an assistant coach on Coquese Washington’s staff at Rutgers last season. The university confirmed her death on Friday, but did not announce a cause of death.
McCray-Penson’s tenure at Rutgers was only a small portion of her 16 years of college coaching experience. She began coaching in 2006 as an assistant at Western Kentucky.

A San Antonio Spurs security guard working for the team’s highly-prized draft pick Victor Wembanyama will not face criminal charges after allegedly slapping Britney Spears.
That’s going to go down as one of the wildest sentences related to young, albeit very tall Mr. Wembanyama’s career and he hasn’t even recorded an NBA bucket yet.

The Chiefs spent the offseason bolstering the team as they prepared to try and repeat, and that included signing linebacker Drue Tranquill away from the Chargers.
Tranquill signed in Kansas City during the first week of free agency, and the linebacker said the Chiefs recruited him pretty hard. So much so that coach Andy Reid was recruiting him up until Tranquill made his decision.
“I was really honored by the way the Chiefs pursued me, all the way from the front office down to the coaching staff,” Tranquill said, via NFL.com.
