Jared Cannonier painted a masterpiece Saturday.
In a fight that was violent and bloody, Cannonier defeated Marvin Vettori by unanimous decision in the Apex to close out the UFC on ESPN card last Saturday. It started off with Vettori putting the pressure on Cannonier, but swiftly changed, especially in the second round, with Cannonier consistently delivering crisp, powerful shots en route to victory.
MLB will honor Hall of Fame center fielder Willie Mays with a special game at Rickwood Field in Birmingham in 2024, the league office announced in a Tuesday morning release.
The game will feature the Giants, for whom Mays played from 1951–52 and 1954 to ’72, and the Cardinals. Scheduled to be played on June 20 to coincide with Juneteenth celebrations, it will be televised on Fox.
Rickwood Field is the oldest professional ballpark in the United States, having been constructed for the Birmingham Barons of the Southern Association in 1910.

The Reds are among the hottest teams in baseball—and their electrifying rookie Elly De La Cruz is a major reason why.
Cincinnati beat the Rockies on Monday night, 5–4, to stretch its winning streak to nine games. Since De La Cruz was called up to the majors on June 6, the Reds are 11–2. They’ve gone from five games under .500 to three games over, with Monday night’s win putting them in first place in the NL Central for the first time since April 3.
De La Cruz has earned a reputation for combining power and speed like few players in the league can.
