Shortly before the start of Tuesday’s game against the Royals, Guardians manager Terry Francona was reportedly not feeling well, resulting in him leaving the team to undergo testing at a local hospital. The decision to get further testing was made “out of an abundance of caution” given Francona’s medical history, per Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal.
Francona will be held overnight for observation, according to MLB.com’s Mandy Bell. Acting manager DeMarlo Hale didn’t find out Francona would miss the game until 15 minutes before first pitch.

Three weeks after the Vikings released star running back Dalvin Cook, the 27-year-old’s market seems to be heating up.
Cook has reportedly received “multiple offers” since being let go by Minnesota, per ProFootballTalk‘s Charean Williams, and one of those teams appears to be the Dolphins. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported Tuesday that there’s “mutual interest” between the two parties and that an official offer had been made, though the details of that offer remain unknown.

Hall of Fame NFL linebacker Ray Lewis laid his departed son, Ray Lewis III, to rest Saturday in a heart-wrenching memorial for the young man.
The funeral was held at Calvary Orlando Church in Florida where the elder Lewis delivered the eulogy to his 28-year-old son.

Former NFL quarterback Ryan Mallett died in a drowning accident in Florida on Tuesday. 
Mallett, who was 35, was the head football coach at White Hall High School in Arkansas since 2022. Previously, he’d been a quarterback at both Michigan and Arkansas, and he played five seasons in the NFL for the Patriots, Texans and Ravens.
The news of his passing took both the college football and NFL worlds by storm, as fans, former teammates and coaches, and others mourned Mallett’s death.
