As the Pac-12 dissolves before our very eyes, four remaining schools are left in limbo. One of those teams is Stanford, as the Cardinal have been loyal to the Pac-12 through the entire realignment process but are potentially without a future home as teams around them find new conferences to join.

Following the USWNT’s loss in penalty kicks to Sweden on Sunday in Melbourne, there was plenty of backlash from the team’s supporters. But although the U.S. fell 5-4 in penalties after a 0-0 draw through regulation and extra time, forward Megan Rapinoe and manager Vlatko Andonovski received much of the early reaction, and there were virtually no positive vibes being sent to either.
Andonovski already had received backlash from supporters for numerous decisions during the team’s mediocre performance during group play.

Julie Ertz alluded to her international retirement after a heartbreaking loss to Sweden and an early exit from the Women’s World Cup. “It’s probably my last game ever having the honor to be able to wear this crest,” Ertz told Fox’s Jenny Taft following the round-of-16 defeat.
The 31-year-old has competed in three World Cup tournaments for the U.S., winning two trophies for the Stars and Stripes.“It’s an honor to represent this team and I’m excited for the future of the girls,” Ertz said.

The USWNT’s loss in the round of 16 at the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Melbourne on Sunday was heartbreaking. After a scoreless regulation and extra time, Sweden and the United States had to go seven rounds in penalty kicks to decide the match, and the deciding goal couldn’t have been any closer.
Tied in PKs and needing a save to extend the match, it appeared as if U.S. goalie Alyssa Naeher saved Sweden striker Lisa Hurtig’s shot to force an eighth round.
