The PAC-12’s disaster of a media rights situation continues to be stuck in the mud.
Commissioner George Kliavkoff has been attempting to hammer out a new media deal, but so far, nothing has happened.
With the clock ticking down, it has recently started to look like the PAC-12 might actually manage to secure a deal. It was rumored ESPN, which currently owns part of the PAC-12 rights, was in the mix as a possible option for the next media rights package, but that might not actually be the case.
After upsets peppered the first two rounds of the men’s tournament, the Sweet 16 looks much different than fans expected.
The first weekend of the men’s NCAA tournament is officially in the books, and there’s a pretty good chance that your bracket is already in shambles. The first four days of the tournament didn’t bring a critical mass of upsets, but shockers like Fairleigh Dickinson’s win over Purdue, Princeton’s run to the Sweet 16 and Arkansas’s takedown of defending champion Kansas set up a round few would have predicted.
The Hoyas fired Patrick Ewing after their season ended.
Georgetown is heavily pursuing Providence coach Ed Cooley to lead the Hoyas men’s basketball program, per multiple reports. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports the two sides have had “positive conversations,” while Stadium’s Jeff Goodman says Cooley is “on verge” of leaving the Friars for the Hoyas.
Cooley, a Providence native, has been coaching the Friars since 2011 following five seasons at Fairfield.
Ryan Poles can clearly say his actions have spoken louder than his words ever could to his starting quarterback after he dealt the top pick of the draft to the Panthers.
As second-year Bears GM Ryan Poles and I worked through the ins and outs of a trade that’ll help define his time, for better or worse, in Chicago on Thursday night, a simple question popped in my head. I knew neither he nor coach Matt Eberflus had definitively told Justin Fields that he’d be their quarterback in 2023 before trading the pick.
So I wondered, aloud, whether Poles had done so since. He laughed.
The NFL insider tried his best.
Last week, we found out Aaron Rodgers wants to play for the New York Jets this coming NFL season.
We also found out he wants ESPN’s Adam Schefter to lose his phone number, which is something the QB made clear after the ESPN reporter tried to get some info from him following his stint in a darkness retreat.
Schefter, who shared the screenshot of the text Rodgers sent him, further explained to Peter King how the moment played out and what he was trying to accomplish by reaching out to Rodgers.
Golden Bears head coach Ian Herbers feared for his team’s safety “every time” they went on the ice.
He already knows who he wants to face when he’s ready to return to the ring.
Paul Wight is ready for his next big match.
As long as his body cooperates.
Wrestling’s signature giant of the past three decades had his knee replaced last summer, but he is making progress in his recovery. If all goes according to plan, there will be one more run in the ring—and, potentially, a must-see bout against Kenny Omega.
“I want to get in the ring with Kenny Omega,” says Wight. “I want that real bad.
One stat tells fans everything they need to know about the Big Ten’s horrific NCAA Tournament performance.
The Big Ten started the tournament with eight teams in the field. Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan State, Northwestern, Penn State, and Purdue all made the field.
Through the first two round and onto the Sweet 16, only one is still alive:
Michigan State.
Michigan State is the only remaining Big Ten team.
Plus, why the trade market has been flat, Laremy Tunsil’s big deal with the Texans, Jonah Williams’s situation with the Bengals and more on Lamar Jackson and the Ravens’ offense in our free-agency takeaways.
We’re almost a week into free agency, and we’ve got some takeaways.
• It’s been five days since Aaron Rodgers’s appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, and, as of this writing, he remains a Packer.
I think with some time, cooler heads will prevail.
