The Pat McAfee Show is reportedly set to get a new home.
Former West Virginia and Colts punter Pat McAfee will take his flagship program to ESPN beginning in the fall, according to a Tuesday afternoon report from Andrew Marchand of The New York Post.
The deal, said by Marchand to be worth “more than eight figures,” will reportedly extricate McAfee from his previous four-year, $120 million contract with FanDuel.
The Bengals and Joe Burrow are continuing to work towards a long-term contract this offseason, the star quarterback shared on Tuesday.
Not many details have come out about what the contract extension may entail, and now Burrow is explaining why that is. The quarterback admitted in his Tuesday press conference that the two parties are planning to keep the discussions between them until something is officially figured out.
“I’m involved. That’s in the works,” Burrow said. “That’s not really something that I like to play out in the media.
Davante Adams is clearly very pleased with the way his 2022 season unfolded with the Las Vegas Raiders.
When the superstar wide receiver split with the Green Bay Packers, many wondered if he’d maintain his level of production without Aaron Rodgers.
During a recent interview with The Ringer, he expressed no small measure of satisfaction in debunking those concerns.
“Now people can’t say that,” Adams explained. “That’ll never be the narrative ever again.”
Adams averaged a career-high 15.2 yards per reception, adding 14 touchdowns to finish first in the NFL.
Welcome to the eighth installment of a weekly mailbag that I will be writing about the world of sports media (and anything else you want to chime in on). Please email me any questions you have to Jimmy.Traina@si.com or send them via Twitter.
The NFL announced this week that one wild-card playoff game this season will air exclusively on Peacock’s streaming service. No regular TV. You guys had questions.
Rory McIlroy has been the most outspoken player on the PGA Tour when it comes to LIV Golf. Even when rumors of the Saudi-backed circuit were just a whisper, anytime the topic of LIV came up in his presence he took it as an opportunity to go to bat for the PGA Tour.
Over the last year or so, and especially since the calendar flipped to 2023, McIlroy’s bashing of LIV Golf has slowed down. While he’s still very much on Team PGA Tour, even LIV CEO Greg Norman has noticed McIlroy develop a very small soft spot for the rival circuit.
College baseball coaches, or any baseball coach for that matter, should not touch an umpire. However, touching an umpire should not warrant an ejection when it has to do with de-escalation.
Unfortunately, an ump in Morgantown thinks otherwise and made it all about himself Sunday.
West Virginia, the No. 6-ranked school in the most recent poll, was hosting 35-win Texas Tech. The whole thing went down in the bottom of the eighth inning.
A debatable play at third base left the Mountaineers’ third base coach frustrated. He let the umpires hear his frustration and was tossed.
The NFL released the 2023-24 schedule last week. Of course, people focused on the matchups and primetime games. That makes the most sense, since those draw the most viewers. But one important — and often overlooked — detail in scheduling is rest advantage. And the New York Jets received plenty of that. The San Francisco 49ers … didn’t.
Warren Sharp, a contributor for the NFL on Fox, did a comprehensive breakdown of rest advantages — and disadvantages — for all 32 NFL teams.
The NFL schedule provides the New York Jets with several rest advantages throughout the 2023 season.
Hall of Fame guard Ray Allen found success at several stops: with the turn-of-the-century Bucks, on some of the last great SuperSonics teams and with the Celtics as they won their most recent NBA title.
However, Allen solidified his legacy as a deadly sharpshooter on the last two Big Three-era Heat teams. His three-pointer to tie Game 6 of the 2013 Finals ranks among the most iconic shots in basketball history, and helped now-Lakers forward LeBron James secure his second championship ring.
The “glancing” drama has a perfectly reasonable explanation.
Something curious was happening with Aaron Judge when the Yankees faced the Blue Jays on Tuesday night — he kept glancing over towards first base during his at-bat in the eighth inning. It was enough to pique the interest of the Jays’ broadcasters, who discussed the prevalence of the glancing. Then discussion went wild when Judge homered immediately following another glance.
