Give Julio Rodriguez an Oscar for his coy reaction to robbing a home run against the Padres.
One of the coolest things to do in a baseball game is robbing a surefire home run. The batter thinking that they can do the homer trot only for a centerfielder who was blessed by God with insane athleticism to jump up and snag the ball out of the air as you think you have a no doubt homer. It’s one of the biggest reversals of fortune in sports, which makes it hilarious.

While Austin Reaves continues to build on his own rapidly growing popularity as a member of the Lakers this offseason, he’ll take center stage with Team USA at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup ahead of the new NBA season.
But before that gets underway, Reaves sat down with SI’s Robin Lundberg to discuss a number of topics, including the guard’s decision to join Team USA, his takeaways from the team and also the outlook for the Lakers in 2023 and beyond.
Warriors star Steph Curry did a rapid fire segment with Complex Sports where he answered questions on a number of topics.
One interesting question for Curry was which former player he’d like to play with. For the Golden State star, the answer was obvious.
“Probably Shaq,” Curry said. “Just to see that dominance up close in person.”
O’Neal is one of the greatest big men to ever play the game, thanks to a dominant stretch as Kobe Bryant’s running mate. The 15-time all-star and first-ballot Hall of Famer averaged 23.7 points and 10.9 rebounds over his 19-year career.
Scoot Henderson just put a ton of pressure on himself for no reason.
Who is Scoot Henderson?
Exactly.
You might not know the name unless you follow basketball rather closely, but Henderson is guaranteeing that you will know his name sooner than later. He did so by promising that he will win the NBA’s Rookie of the Year award.
Perhaps the 19-year-old hasn’t learned that the thing with guarantees is, people will definitely know your name – for better or worse, and usually it’s because the guarantee comes up short.

All 32 teams are in preseason action this weekend
After months of waiting, NFL fans have an entire weekend slate of football ahead of them.
Well, that is technically true.
After the amuse-bouche that was the Hall of Fame Game last weekend, all 32 teams are in action this weekend, with 16 games starting on Thursday night and running through Sunday afternoon.
Here is the schedule for Week 1 of the NFL preseason, along with television information and what to keep an eye on in each game.
The unofficial start of fantasy football season kicked off Tuesday night with the debut of this season’s Hard Knocks on HBO. After all, what better way for fantasy managers to start scouting than from their sofas with the dulcet tones of Liev Schreiber weaving the narrative?
Last year, we fell in love with Dan Campbell and his Lions. Those who saw something special in Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jamaal Williams got some of the best draft day bargains of the season.
This year it’s Robert Saleh and his Jets. And yes, I am in love.

Diving into the final eight teams at the Women’s World Cup
And then there were eight.
The 2023 Women’s World Cup has moved on to the quarter-finals, and with the United States eliminated, we will not see a repeat winner this year. In addition, odds are increasing that soccer fans see a first-time winner of the Women’s World Cup. Out of the eight teams left standing, only Japan has enjoyed World Cup glory, having won the title in 2011 when they defeated the United States in the Final.
With less than one month left until the 2023-24 NFL season kicks off, OutKick is unveiling its team-by-team preview series. Over the course of the next four weeks, we are going division-by-division, covering all 32 NFL teams. The series continues with the AFC and NFC West, now taking a look at last year’s second-place finisher in the AFC West, the Los Angeles Chargers.

Offseason Moves
The Los Angeles Chargers didn’t go crazy in free agency, but they made an important addition.
When Warriors star Stephen Curry wraps up his NBA career, fans will be hard-pressed to find another player capable of putting the ball in the hoop in the fashion and at the rate he’s managed to do it. The 35-year-old guard has created a different level of “elite” when it comes to shooting, and he’s continued to evolve and improve his game in the process as well.
During a recently quick-fire Q&A with Curry, he was asked to name the three best shooters in the NBA, excluding himself. His list was certainly interesting—to put it lightly (via Complex Sports).
The New York Jets need a better start to their 2023 season than Hard Knocks offered in its debut episode Tuesday night.
The Jets and the award winning HBO series are sharing high expectations this summer because one is the talk of the NFL and the other is the league’s lens and microphone for captivating entertainment in the preseason.
But this is where we all should agree the Jets must aim higher than what Hard Knock delivered Tuesday night on HBO because, well, that was unsatisfying.
