During a 8–0 blowout loss to the Braves, in attempt to save their bullpen during useless action, the Cubs turned to catcher Tucker Barnhart to close out the game.
The 32-year-old veteran who, instead of being behind the plate, was asked to step on the mound and face arguably the National League’s most feared hitter: Ronald Acuña Jr.
After Barnhart only needed two pitches to retire Michael Harris II on a groundout to second base, Acuña Jr. stepped to the plate.

LeSean McCoy didn’t like what he saw — and heard — out of Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs.
Now the bad blood has spilled over onto Twitter… or X… whichever…
The former NFL running back was highly critical of Diggs for telling Cowboys QB Dak Prescott to shut “b–ch ass up.”

.@CutOnDime25: Trevon Diggs trash-talking Dak shows they don’t respect him.
“I played with Michael Vick, played with Tom Brady, played with Josh Allen, played with Patrick Mahomes, nobody on the team would even fix they lips to say something like that to the quarterback.

Buccaneers All-Pro offensive lineman Tristan Wirfs has quickly made a name for himself in his three NFL seasons. But, as the 24-year-old explained Friday, the desire to address concerns regarding his mental health has played a key role in his preparation for a new challenge in year four.

We’re over 2,000 miles on the road on this training camp tour, and I’m at stop No. 11 in Oxnard, Calif., with the Cowboys, following my colleague Gilberto Manzano, who was here Thursday. Here’s what I learned Friday …

Is it possible Micah Parsons is taking another step? Cowboys coaches told me it’s gotten to the point where the third-year pro is so disruptive that it makes it hard on the offense to get good work in during practice, and it’s clear the focus of his offseason has really paid off.

It’s good to be Aaron Rodgers.
The future Hall of Famer purchased an eight bedroom, 10 bathroom, $9.5 million mansion this summer as he prepares for his first season with the New York Jets.
Does one dude need that many bedrooms and bathrooms? Of course not. But he’s Aaron Rodgers, so he does what he wants.
Anyway, the home is in Montclair, N.J. — roughly a 20-minute drive from MetLife Stadium. But even though he’s across the river, Rodgers can see the whole entire Big Apple from his living room.
We’re not in Wisconsin anymore, Toto.
