A small group of Big Ten presidents held a preliminary meeting Wednesday to discuss adding two to four new members from the Pac-12, sources confirmed to Sports Illustrated. The potential expansion targets are Oregon, Washington, California and Stanford. The news was first reported by Yahoo Sports.
A source familiar with the Big Ten thinking said the conference’s presidents are more interested in adding all four schools, while the league’s media partners are more interested in a two-member addition of Oregon and Washington.

Ah, the “dreaded vote of confidence.” Usually reserved for head coaches, but sometimes can be used for others. On Tuesday, Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank delivered the vote of confidence for quarterback Desmond Ridder.
Ridder, a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, played just OK in his rookie season. The team benched veteran Marcus Mariota late in the season and turned the reins over to Ridder.
The team went 2-2 in four Ridder starts. The rookie QB completed 63.5% of his passes, but averaged fewer than 200 yards passing per game.

The sports betting scandal that’s engrossed multiple athletic programs from Iowa and Iowa State has sent shockwaves through the college sports world. Tuesday saw reports emerge that last year’s starting quarterback for the Cyclones, Hunter Dekkers, bet on a 2021 Iowa State football game while he was on the team. Randy Peterson of the Des Moines Register reported on Wednesday that Hawkeyes backup kicker Aaron Blom has been also accused of betting on a 2021 game between Iowa and Iowa State.

Tiger Woods has a new job. Tuesday he was named the sixth Player Director on the PGA Tour’s policy board.
Phil Mickelson, one of the biggest LIV Golf advocates, shared his thoughts about Woods’ new gig.
“This is great to see,” Mickelson said. “Players having equal representation on the board, Tiger getting more involved, and accountability across the board. Awesome news.”
