Cardinals manager Oli Marmol was ejected from St. Louis’s game on Saturday, but he didn’t leave the field without giving the umpire an earful.
After a questionable called strike on star third baseman Nolan Arenado from Cubs relief pitcher Daniel Palencia, Marmol voiced his displeasure with the call from home plate umpire Cory Blaser.
The incident occurred in the top of the sixth inning on the first pitch of Arenado’s at-bat.

The reigning Super Bowl champion Chiefs will reportedly commence the start of training camp without a key member of their defense due to an ongoing contract dispute with team brass.
All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones did not report to training camp on Saturday as the two-time Super Bowl champion remains in search of a new contract, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported. 
Per Schefter, Jones, who finished third in Defensive Player of the Year voting in 2022, and Kansas City are still currently “far apart” on an extension.

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith delivered his latest comments regarding former ESPN colleague Dan Le Batard on Saturday as the longtime sports personalities continue their public war-of-words over the state of sports media. 
Appearing on his self-titled YouTube show, Smith looked to clear the air about still being friends with Le Batard, his friend of “over 20 years,” despite their recent spats. However, the 55-year-old reiterated he still didn’t appreciate Le Batard’s perspective, which first made headlines in March after he criticized Smith’s impact on sports media.

Ekeler is one of several veteran running backs who struggled to land long-term contract extensions with their teams.
