The Red Sox were set to host the Mets on Friday night in the first tilt of a three-game weekend set at Fenway Park. However, torrential downpours spoiled the tilt in the bottom of the 4th inning, as play was suspended due to the poor weather.
The Mets were leading the contest 4–3, and play will resume on Saturday afternoon at Fenway as part of a day-night doubleheader.
To give an idea of how bad the rain was on Friday night, Red Sox designated hitter Justin Turner shared a video of the tunnel leading from the locker room to the dugout.

USC is preparing to play its last year in the Pac-12 before the school officially moves to the Big Ten, along with UCLA. That means that the Trojans will have to develop new rivalries as part of being in a new conference.
Still, USC football coach Lincoln Riley hopes one rivalry remains intact. The Trojans second-year leader wants to try and continue their annual matchup with Notre Dame even after USC moves to the Big Ten.

Most members of the U.S. Women’s National Team stood silently while the anthem played before the World Cup opener against Vietnam on Friday.
Only five of the 11 players who stood on the field for the anthem placed their hands over their hearts, while their six teammates kept their digits clasped behind their backs.
While American supporters in the stands belted out “The Star Spangled Banner,” only three USWNT players — Julie Ertz, Alyssa Naeher and Lindsey Horan — sang along. The others stared stoically ahead.

The USWNT began their quest to win a third straight Women’s World Cup with a 3–0 win over Vietnam in group play. Before their victory, the women got a message from someone who knows a little something about winning, former NFL quarterback and soon-to-be Fox analyst Tom Brady.

That’s what some mixed martial arts fans are wondering as new reports claim that McGregor isn’t likely to fight this year. It doesn’t help when his manager even hinted at it as well.
“You can’t rule out the end of the year, but I think just in terms of where we are right now in terms of the date, it’s likely going to be 2024,” McGregor’s manager Audie Attar told MMA Junkie this past week.
