Although the Angels haven’t revealed whether they will trade impending free agent Shohei Ohtani, observers can’t help but compose potential deals for the two-way superstar. To wit, the Yankees are viewed as perhaps the team most motivated to acquire Ohtani prior to the July 31 trade deadline.
However, Fox Sports MLB analyst Eric Karros offered an intriguing take regarding Ohtani’s future.
“Who’s he going to be playing for?” Karros said on Saturday. “He’s going to be playing for the Giants. … That makes all the sense in the world.

Four months after the Jaguars placed the franchise tag on tight end Evan Engram, the 28-year-old has finally secured a long-term deal.
Engram and the team agreed to a three-year, $41.25 million contract on Sunday, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport. The deal includes $24 million in guaranteed money and comes after he was initially set to play the 2023 season under the aforementioned franchise tag, which guaranteed him $11.345 million.
After spending his first five professional seasons with the Giants, Engram signed a one-year deal with the Jaguars as a free agent in March 2022.
Still yet without contract extensions, star running backs Saquon Barkley and Josh Jacobs are prepared to sit out portions of training camp until a deal is met, according to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports. The deadline to sign the franchise tag is Monday at 4 p.m. ET.
As of Thursday morning, the specific reason for Jacobs’s contract holdup with the Raiders is unknown. However, Barkley and the Giants are unable to reach a deal because New York is making offers where guaranteed money falls short of the minimum he would make under the next two franchise tags, per Yahoo Sports.
It’s not often that one NBA team roots for another to acquire a two-time All-Star, but a recent report points to the Mavericks’ stepping happily into that role. The desire here for Dallas is to reportedly hop on board in a potential deal and set itself up to land another coveted player in the process.
As longtime NBA reporter Marc Stein revealed in the latest edition of The Stein Line, the Mavericks are both “rooting” for the Hawks to win the Pascal Siakam trade sweepstakes and hoping the deal either includes Clint Capela or sets them up to join as a third team.

In a viral video this week, Charles Barkley told the world that hate and discrimination are not tolerated with a rant that’s must see.
Charles Barkley is one of the most likable sports personalities in television. Part of that is because he holds nothing back.
While playing in the American Century Championship event this week in Lake Tahoe, a video surfaced of him at a bar making a stand about Budlight and the LGBTQIA+ community.
“Drink this. I want ya’ll to drink this f**ing beer,” Barkley said.
Lane Johnson of the Eagles is widely considered to be one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL. But one anonymous NFC executive hit the All-Pro tackle with some harsh criticism, leading to the Eagles star to fire back.
ESPN polled over 80 voters around the NFL and ranked the top 10 offensive lineman in the league. Its rankings included comments from the anonymous voters. One NFC executive apparently doesn’t think much of Johnson, who was listed at No. 4.
“He gets a lot of credit for being noisy and playing on a good team,” the executive said.
Rory McIlroy won the Scottish Open early Sunday. Thanks to crazy winds at the Renaissance Club, tee times were moved up. For golf fans in the United States, that meant a finish around 9:00 a.m EST. It also meant that McIlroy cashed tickets for bettors who wagered on him to win the tournament.
Depending on the book, Rory McIlroy was around 8-1 to win, pre-tournament. Scottie Scheffler came in as a slight favorite, around 7-1.
Toward the end, Robert MacIntyre was a MASSIVE favorite. MacIntyre made birdie on 18 — the hardest hole on the PGA Tour — to take the lead at -14.
