Rory McIlroy launched the longest drive of his career – a whopping 427 yards – in the final round of the Genesis Scottish Open on Sunday. Yet it says so much about his extraordinary birdie-birdie climax that the monstrous fairway-splitter did not even rank in the top-two shots of his round as he won his first tournament in six months to send him into this week’s Open with self-belief overflowing.

Although LeBron James and Stephen Curry are rivals on the court, they have a friendly relationship outside of basketball. And as we’ve seen previously over the years, the duo still can cheer for each other’s achievements.
James added to that narrative on Saturday by quote tweeting a video of Curry’s iconic hole in one from this weekend’s American Century Classic at South Lake Tahoe.
The video shows Curry going absolutely wild after draining the shot. He ran all across the hole with his hands raised.
James tweeted a simple but fiery reaction to Curry’s hole in one.

The Suns are freeing up money, addressing key areas of need and attempting to replenish their cache of draft picks as they continue to make offseason moves.
Following the blockbuster trade to acquire Bradley Beal from the Wizards, it appeared Phoenix would have a fairly quiet remainder of the offseason. But that hasn’t been the case.
The Suns agreed to a one-year deal with free-agent big man Bol Bol on Sunday, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Eight-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt can add another accomplishment to his résumé after a bronze statue of him was unveiled in Miramar, Fla.
The Jamaican superstar was honored Saturday by the city, which has one of the biggest Jamaican populations outside of the island itself. Jamaica native Basil Barrington Watson created the statue, which shows Bolt’s iconic victory pose.
Watson also added a notable Bolt quote to the artwork: “Anything is possible. Don’t think limits.”
Bolt explained the meaning behind the quote while attending the statue’s unveiling Saturday.

As the trade discussions between the Heat and Trail Blazers for Damian Lillard linger, one name mentioned nearly as often as the 33-year-old point guard is the primary option expected to be moved by Miami—shooting guard Tyler Herro.
The problem, though, is that Portland reportedly isn’t interested in Herro, the NBA’s 2021-22 Sixth Man of the Year.
Although there has been chatter that a few other teams around the league could be willing to give up a first-round pick for Herro in a three-team trade, the overall interest in the 23-year-old guard apparently has been relatively low.
Former USC football player C.R. Roberts died at the age of 87 on Tuesday due to natural causes, the school announced in a press release.
Roberts is best known for his stand against segregation during the 1956 season when USC was headed to Texas to play the Longhorns. Texas’s football program didn’t want Roberts and USC’s other Black players to compete in the game. Additionally, USC had difficulty finding a hotel in Texas that would allow Black customers.
In the game itself, Roberts enjoyed a memorable performance.
