The World Series champs will start the year short-handed.
The reigning World Series champs will be down a key member of the starting rotation to start the 2023 MLB season. 
Astros starting pitcher Lance McCullers announced Wednesday that he’s dealing with a “small muscle strain” which will require him to rehab and miss Opening Day. McCullers told reporters he underwent an MRI on Tuesday which revealed the muscle injury. 
According to Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle, Houston is shutting McCullers down for a few weeks as he rehabs the muscle strain.

The NHL went outside once again for a Stadium Series game, after a month and a half respite since the Winter Classic, and you know what? It was great!
I love when a nontraditional hockey market gets the chance to show that they’re a true hockey town, and on Saturday night Raleigh, North Carolina got that opportunity.
The game itself was about as “meh” as they come. I don’t know what I expected though. It pitted the Carolina Hurricanes, the best team in the Eastern Conference not called the Boston Bruins, and a Washington Capitals team that might eek into the playoffs.

Former Kentucky Swimmer Riley Gaines Barker has become an outspoken advocate for women’s sports. She competed against Lia Thomas, a male, at the NCAA’s. The governing body denied Gaines a trophy that she earned and instead gave it to Thomas.
Since then, Gaines Barker has fought for biological men to be barred from competing against women.
On Wednesday, Gaines joined Dan Dakich on his OutKick show, “Don’t @ Me” and furthered her strong commentary on the issue.

The offensive tackle was a first-round pick by Tennessee in 2014.
The Titans and veteran offensive lineman Taylor Lewan are parting ways after nine seasons. On Wednesday, the 31-year-old announced, via the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast, that Tennessee had informed him of his release. 
Lewan was set to enter the final year of his contract with the Titans and was due to make $14.84 million. Tennessee will not incur a dead cap hit after releasing the former first-round pick, as he had no guaranteed money left on the record-setting five-year, $80 million deal he signed in 2018.
