Florida State coach Mike Norvell will remain with the Seminoles after sources told Sports Illustrated that he was as a candidate under serious consideration for the Alabama coaching vacancy.
Norvell and the Seminoles agreed to a new eight-year contract extension that will pay him more than $10 million per year, a source tells SI’s Richard Johnson.
Florida State vice president and director of athletics Michael Alford posted a picture of black smoke on X, formerly Twitter, while tagging Norvell and school president Richard McCullough with the #OneTribe.

Nicklaus’ latest segment on Golf Central saw him discuss Tiger Woods’ past and future in professional golf.
During Golf Central Wednesday, Rich Lerner welcomed 18-time major champion Jack Nicklaus and had an insightful conversation.
Nicklaus had plenty to say, detailing his career, where things stand with LIV Golf and Tiger Woods. But it was his comments on Woods that truly stood out.
“I think Tiger will play the senior tournament [Tour Champions],” Nicklaus said. “He’d be able to get in a cart, and he’ll absolutely kill everybody.

Sean McVay has been the Los Angeles Rams coach for seven years, and during that span he’d always been the youngest head coach in the NFL. That changed on Friday, when the New England Patriots reportedly decided to make Jerod Mayo their new coach, replacing Bill Belichick.
Mayo is just one month younger than McVay, but nonetheless, he takes the title of youngest active head coach in the league. McVay held onto that moniker for his entire tenure with the Rams thus far, and his time as youngest head coach alone essentially spanned an entire head coaching tenure.

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian is staying in Austin amid rumors he could be a candidate for the Alabama job following Nick Saban’s retirement. 
The Longhorns released a video on social media Friday morning touting Sarkisian’s remaining with the program as he looks to build upon Texas’s 12–2 record and College Football Playoff berth. 
“I came here to win championships. That’s the goal,” Sarkisian said in the video. “We’re here to chase greatness, to win championships. This is the University of Texas, and people are going to want to be part of it.

But hiring season is kicking into gear.
As the NFL Playoffs loomed, eight teams were looking for a new head coach. While there may be some surprises still in store, based on how the playoffs unfold, at least a quarter of the league is looking for a new head coach.

The Washington Commanders are hiring San Francisco 49ers executive Adam Peters as their new general manager, per multiple reports and confirmed by Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer.
Peters will determine where current general manager Martin Mayhew will fit within the organization, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network
