Imagine putting up 30 straight points in a basketball game, and still somehow losing. That’s what Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks experienced Saturday night.
During a 126-120 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Dallas scored 30 unanswered points. That’s the largest run in the NBA since the 1997-98 season, and the longest in franchise history.
All-Star guard Luka Doncic stole the ball from Chet Holmgren late in the fourth quarter and scored the layup that got the Mavericks to that incredible mark. That moved the score to 117-111, meaning that the Mavericks overcame a 24-point deficit.

Fans of baseball are very familiar with the phrase “weather delay.” For the NFL, though, that’s a relatively rare occurrence. However, extreme weather in Pittsburgh caused the NFL to keep both the Steelers and the Cardinals in their locker rooms after halftime.
Messages on the video boards at Acrisure stadium encouraged fans to seek cover as heavy winds, lightning and hail entered the area.

Injuries are an unfortunate part of the game in the NFL. But usually that’s a problem for the players, not the officials.
During Sunday’s game between the Detroit Lions and New Orleans Saints, disaster struck when a sideline official went down with what appeared to be a gruesome leg injury.
Saints running back Alvin Kamara ran the ball toward the sideline and got pushed out by Lions linebacker Derrick Barnes. Kamara hit the ground and rolled into the legs of one of the members of the chain gang. As Kamara got up, cameras showed the official on the ground holding his leg.

Texans rookie wide receiver Tank Dell had to be carted off the field during their Week 13 game against the Broncos after suffering an ankle injury. Houston fans, already upset that one of their best young players appeared to be seriously injured, were also furious with how the injury occurred.
Dell was blocking on an inside Dameon Pierce run that resulted in a touchdown when a Broncos defender landed awkwardly on his ankle. Houston fans took to Twitter, formerly known as X, and demanded to know why Dell was anywhere near the play.

Still can’t make sense of this.

Here’s what it sounded like when the Wolverines learned they’d be playing Alabama
As the old saying goes, “a picture is worth a thousand words.”
So what does that mean in the video age?
While you ponder that question, we can turn to the Michigan Wolverines. In the eyes of the College Football Playoff selection committee, the Big Ten Champions are the top team in the nation, and were put in the No. 1 slot in the rankings released on Sunday.
That left the Wolverines waiting — along with the rest of us — to see who the last team in the CFP would be.

The Florida State head coach absolutely torched the College Football Playoff committee for leaving out the Noles.
Florida State football hired Mike Norvell as head coach after a successful run with Memphis. Norvell’s tenure in Tallahassee was a slow burn, to put it lightly: FSU went 3-6 in his first year during the Covid-shortened season of 2020, and then went 5-7 in 2021.

The four-team College Football Playoff came into being in 2014 as a welcome improvement over the Bowl Championship Series. But it always was a math failure. The sport has been amazingly lucky with how rarely that has come back to bite it the way it did Sunday.
A four-team playoff in a sport with five power conferences never made sense. Getting the foot-dragging traditionalists in charge to simply accept a playoff of any kind was a massive endeavor, so everyone embraced a flawed four because it was better than a nonsensical two.

Titans quarterback Will Levis was clearly not happy with wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins during their Week 13 game against the Colts. On a third-down play in the first quarter, Levis lofted a ball down the right sideline in the direction of Hopkins, who appeared to throw his hands in the air as the ball sailed out of bounds.
That did not sit well with Levis, who was seen yelling at Hopkins as he jogged off the field. The rookie QB continued the conversation on the sidelines, as CBS cameras caught him giving Hopkins an earful.
