The most obvious and best way college football programs recruit great players now is through the new world of open payments to athletes. This started in 2021 after the NCAA stopped trying to ban pay for players who claimed they deserved money through their Name, Image & Likeness (NIL). The NCAA kept losing NIL-related lawsuits and just gave up.
Since that summer, it has been the Wild West in college sports with money flowing throughout campuses like testosterone at a fraternity rush party. Top college athletes were actually getting cash for nearly 100 years at hordes of major programs.

Jaguars left tackle Cam Robinson is officially facing a four-game suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Thursday.
It was reported on April 27 that Robinson was found to have violated the PED policy, but the NFL was waiting on the results of Robinson’s test to see which substance triggered the positive test before determining the length of his suspension. This is Robinson’s first offense.
The suspension also costs Robinson $3.55 million of his base salary, ESPN’s Field Yates added.

For the second time this month, wildfire smoke has permeated the northeast due to raging fires in Canada. 
Poor visibility, and more importantly, poor air quality, have plagued MLB games throughout parts of the month of June.
On Thursday, the Pirates and Padres were set to play the last game of a three-game series at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. The afternoon game was delayed 45 minutes due to smoke and air quality issues but the air quality wasn’t expected to get much better throughout the afternoon, even though visibility was improving.

Former Colts cornerback Isaiah Rodgers reportedly bet on his teammate while wagering on NFL games last season. 
Indianapolis announced Thursday it is waiving Rodgers and tight end Rashod Berry after the league announced indefinite suspensions for the two for betting. Free agent Demetrius Thomas was also suspended indefinitely. The suspensions are expected to last at least a year.
Rodgers placed over 100 bets with an online sportsbook, and at least one of the bets was on a game involving Indianapolis, according to ESPN’s David Purdum.
