Sophia Smith opened the scoring early for the USWNT, slotting in a goal in the 15th minute.

Lionel Messi made his debut for MLS side Inter Miami CF on Friday night, coming on in the 54th minute to a raucous ovation from the capacity crowd DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
It did not take him too much longer to deliver his first magical moment.
Messi scored on a fantastic free kick in the 94th minute to give Miami a 2-1 victory over Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup.

Vikings rookie receiver Jordan Addison issued a public apology on Friday in the wake of receiving a citation early Thursday morning for speeding and reckless driving.
In a statement shared via his agent Tim Younger, Addison, the 23rd pick in April’s draft, vowed to learn from the incident, which reportedly saw the 21-year-old traveling 140 mph in a 55-mph zone just outside St. Paul.

Less than a day after the sale of the Commanders was approved by the NFL owners, former Washington owners Dan and Tanya Snyder issued a statement on Friday addressing the monumental deal and their 24-year tenure with the franchise.
Following a tumultuous two-plus decades, the Snyders officially sold ownership of the Commanders to the Josh Harris group on Thursday after the long-anticipated move received unanimous approval from NFL owners. The Pac-12 Conference took center stage this week as it held its media day.
And unsurprisingly, much of the conversation revolved around conference realignment, expansion and media rights.
With the USC Trojans and UCLA Bruins set to leave the Pac-12 at the end of the year and no new media deal, rumors have suggested the conference could soon be set to fall apart.
