Elly De La Cruz is one of the top prospects in all of baseball. Just over a week after his call-up to the majors, everyone is buzzing about Cincinnati.
Max Verstappen was dominant again on Sunday, claiming victory at the Canadian Grand Prix for his sixth win of the Formula One season.
In doing so, not only did he have to battle his opponents. He also had to deal with the elements in a bizarre way.
After the race, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner admitted that Verstappen hit a bird during the race, and it got stuck in the car.
“The biggest moment [Verstappen] had was hitting a bird that did half the race behind the front right brake duct,” Horner said, via ESPN’s Nate Saunders. “A very, very controlled race by him.
Chris Paul apparently found out he will soon no longer be a member of the Suns in unceremonious fashion.
While appearing Good Morning America to promote his new book, Sixty-One: Life Lessons From Papa, On and Off the Court, Paul found himself playing down the biggest current NBA storyline and how he learned about it.
During the Monday interview, co-host Michael Strahan said he was surprised to see that the Wizards and Suns were reportedly working on a blockbuster deal involving Paul and Bradley Beal, and he asked Paul what his thoughts were on the news.
Brandon Staley got this feeling coming off the field, after watching the Chargers’ offense, Tuesday, and it was back again Wednesday. And even if, a few days later, he still couldn’t quite gather the words to fully explain that feeling in his gut, it was unmistakable.
It was about where his offense was and, maybe more so, about where it was going.
“I left the practice field of the last practice of minicamp saying that was the best throwing session that we’ve ever had since we’ve been here,” Staley said, over the phone from Chicago, on his second day of vacation.
As J.J. Watt approaches his first fall in retirement, he has many options for his next career move as football season approaches. The former All-Pro defensive end has multiple offers on the table to join TV networks as an analyst, per Andrew Marchand of the New York Post.
CBS is the favorite to potentially land Watt in what would be a part-time role at first, while NBC and the NFL Network also have expressed interest, according to Marchand.
Much has been made about Stefon Diggs’s displeasure with the Bills organization, and there finally appears to be some clarity in regard to the situation. The star wide receiver is frustrated with his role on Buffalo’s offense and wants more of a voice in play-calling, according to The Boston Globe’s Ben Volin, who cited a source close to the Buffalo locker room.
The league is officially on vacation, and we have a bunch of takeaways for you this Monday morning …
Take the money, Saquon, Josh and Tony. And I’m not saying you have to do it now. But between now and July 17 (the deadline for franchise-tagged players to sign long-term deals), Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs and Tony Pollard should figure out just how far the Giants, Raiders and Cowboys are willing to go financially, and then clean all that money off the table.
For the first time in months, we didn’t have a NASCAR race Sunday. That means no column today. See everyone after Nashville.
Just kidding! Quite the opposite, in fact.
NASCAR’s one off week of the season (maybe they have more, but I don’t feel like checking) can mean only one thing: the boys — and girls — get to go out and play.
Yep. We’re talking fishing expeditions, trips to Cabo, beach vacations and absolute HEATERS from all the OG NASCAR WAGS out there.
Samantha Busch was back in her bag last week. McCall Gauling caused quite the stir.

With the entire golfing world watching, Wyndham Clark captured his first major championship at the 123rd U.S. Open at the Los Angeles Country Club.
Clark shot an even-par 70 Sunday. He stayed even-keeled throughout the round and finished one stroke ahead of Rory McIlroy, perhaps the most popular player on the planet and one of the greatest golfers of his generation.
